Description
Deepforge (Beta)
Ever felt like survival runs out of things to do once you've got full diamond? Deepforge is here to fix that. It gives you new ores to hunt, better gear to forge, bosses that keep getting tougher, tools that grow with you, tiny pets that ride along in your inventory, and a book that keeps track of everything you've found.
It's built to feel like Minecraft, just with a lot more to chase. Your favourite pickaxe slowly becomes your pickaxe, with skills you picked yourself. Your inventory fills up with little friends. And the Ender Dragon? It comes back angrier every time.
Works on Bedrock 1.26.60 and up. No experimental settings needed, and it runs in single player, on Realms and on servers.
This is a beta, so everything is playable but there may be a few rough edges. If you spot one, let me know in the comments!
Digging deeper
There are six new ores spread across all three dimensions. Each one has a full set of tools, and every ore except Silver has a full armour set too. Wear a complete set and you get a bonus on top.
| Ore | Where to find it | What it makes |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | Overworld, underground | Tools |
| Azurite | Deep in the Overworld's deepslate | Tools and armour |
| Titanium | Deep in the Overworld's deepslate | Tools and armour |
| Cobalt | The Nether | Tools and armour |
| Emberite | The Nether | Tools and armour |
| Voidite | The End | Tools and armour |
At the very top, you can upgrade Netherite gear into Voidite and then into Dragonscale at the smithing table. The Voidite template is hidden in End city chests. The Dragonscale one comes from the dragons themselves.
And because every armour piece in Deepforge works with all the vanilla armour trims, you can make your gear look exactly how you want.
New enchants
Eight new enchants: Lifesteal, Frostbite, Executioner, Dragonbane, Smelter, Magnetism, Featherfall and Swiftstep. They sometimes show up as a bonus when you use an enchanting table, and you can also find them as books by fishing or trading with librarians.
Bosses that come back stronger
Beat the Ender Dragon or the Wither, then summon it again, and it returns as an Ascending boss: stronger, a new colour, and with its own boss bar. There are five tiers of each.
| Tier | Dragon | Wither |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Crimson | Ember |
| 2 | Azure | Frost |
| 3 | Verdant | Venom |
| 4 | Gilded | Blood |
| 5 | Voidborn | Eclipse |
Ascending Dragons drop Dragon Scales, and from the higher tiers, the template for Dragonscale gear.
Tools that level up
This is where Deepforge gets personal. Your tools and weapons gain Mastery as you use them, all the way up to level 25. Every 5 levels you pick one of two skills, and the other one is locked on that tool forever. Two players with the same pickaxe can end up with very different tools.
Hold a tool and double-tap Sneak to open its skill tree. Tap a skill to read what it does, then hit Choose.
| Tool | A few of the skills |
|---|---|
| Pickaxe | Auto-Smelt, Vein Miner, Tunneler, Ore Sense, Magnet |
| Axe | Timber, Replant, Apple Picker, Whirlwind, Heartwood |
| Shovel | Excavator, Sifter, Glassmaker, Archaeologist |
| Hoe | Replanter, Wide Till, Swift Harvest, Scythe, Golden Harvest |
| Weapons | Lifesteal, Combo, Executioner, Berserk, Phantom Blade |
| Bows | Power Shot, Frost Tip, Volley, Headhunter, Storm Arrow |
It works on vanilla tools too, not just Deepforge ones. And when you upgrade a tool at the smithing table, its level and skills come along with it.
Pets in your pocket
There are 24 tiny pets that live in your inventory. Right-click one to wake it up, and while it's awake it helps you out. You can have three awake at a time, so you get to pick a team.
A few favourites: the Bat gives you night vision, the Slime bounces you to safety instead of letting you take fall damage, the Allay pulls nearby items to you, and the Cat keeps creepers away.
Most pets drop from the mob they're based on. Friendly mobs work differently: feed or tame a wolf, cat, fox or one of the others, and each day there's a chance it leaves you its pet as a present. Pets level up while they're awake, and if you get a duplicate, you can sneak and right-click to feed it to your pet for an instant level.
The Ore Codex
You get a free Ore Codex the first time you join. It's a book that fills in as you discover things, and anything you haven't found yet shows up as a mysterious silhouette. Fill a whole chapter and you earn something that stays with you for good.
| Chapter | What's in it | Reward for finishing it |
|---|---|---|
| Ores | Every ore, raw ore, ingot and gem | +5% ore drops |
| Gear | Every Deepforge tool and armour piece | Tools wear out 10% slower |
| Enchants | All eight custom enchants | Custom enchants show up more often |
| Bosses | Every boss, including all Ascending tiers | +10% boss damage and the Dragonslayer title |
| Pets | All 24 pets | A 4th pet can be awake |
| Mastery | Every skill from every tree | +10% Mastery XP |
Your progress is saved on you, not the book, so if you lose it you lose nothing. You can craft a new one from a book and an Azurite gem.
Commands
/ov:skillsopens the skill tree of the tool you're holding./pp:petslists every pet, what it does and how to get it.- For operators testing things out:
/ov:mastery <levels>,/pp:give <pet>(or/pp:give all) and/pp:gifts.
Installing
Open the .mcaddon file and Minecraft takes care of the rest. Then turn on the Deepforge behavior pack in your world settings. If you're updating, remove the old version first under Settings > Storage, so no leftover files cause trouble.
There's one setting in the pack's settings screen: Script ore generation. It's on by default and places the new ores as you explore, including in areas you've already visited. You'll probably never need to touch it.
A few things to know
- Deepforge changes the boss bars and some menu screens, so it might not play nicely with other add-ons that change those same screens.
- If another add-on also uses double-tap Sneak, both menus can open at once.
/ov:skillsworks as a workaround. - Extra blocks broken by skills like Vein Miner, Tunneler or Timber drop normal loot, so Fortune doesn't apply to them.
- Retriever and Volley only work with bows, not crossbows.
Thanks for giving Deepforge a try! It's still growing, so if you've got an idea for a new ore, pet or skill, I'd love to hear it in the comments.
