Death Chest: Patch Notes
Version 1.1.0 Author: davex223 Tested on: Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.44.3
New in 1.1.0
- Suffocating inside blocks: the chest goes to the nearest safe spot within 5 blocks (like a cave or room next to you). If there isn't one, it goes on the surface above you.
- Dying in lava: the chest goes to the nearest safe spot around the lava. It is never placed next to lava or fire.
- Falling into the void: the chest goes to the nearest surface. If the nearest surface isn't in a loaded chunk, you get a chat message and the items are lost.
- Items that burned in lava or fell into the void are restored from a snapshot of your inventory (taken every quarter second), so they still end up in the chest.
- If the death spot is completely blocked, it now uses the same safe-spot search instead of dropping your items.
From 1.0.0
- When you die, a chest spawns at your death spot and your dropped loot goes inside it.
- Armor and offhand items are collected too.
- If your loot doesn't fit, up to two extra chests are placed next to the first.
- Your death coordinates and dimension are sent to you in chat.
Safety
- If the death spot is blocked, the chest goes to the nearest free spot.
- With keep inventory on, nothing drops, so no chest is made.
- Toggle per player with
/tag @s add deathchest_off. Useremoveto turn it back on.
Known notes
- Other dropped items within 6 blocks of your death are collected too.
- Anyone can open the chest, not just you.
- Not tested in multiplayer. Singleplayer only so far.
- Safe-spot search distances are constants at the top of
scripts/main.js(SUFFOCATION_NEAR_RADIUS, LAVA_SEARCH_RADIUS, VOID_SEARCH_RADIUS, …). - The surface of a body of water is not treated as a safe spot, so a death over an ocean puts the chest on the sea floor under it.
