Build Wand — Minecraft Bedrock Add-on
What It Does
Build Wand is a custom tool that lets you fill, outline, or pattern-fill a 3D region with any building block — all from a simple in-game menu. Instead of placing blocks one at a time, you select two corner blocks to define a region and the wand handles the rest.
How to Get It
The Build Wand is crafted at a crafting table with the following recipe:
E G E
_ S _
_ S _
E = Emerald
G = Gold Ingot
S = Stick
How to Use It
- Select your region —
Gold sparkles appear at each selected block to confirm your selection. After 2 seconds the fill menu opens automatically.Right-click to set your two corner positions:- **Click on a block** — uses that block's coordinates- **Click in the air** — uses your current feet coordinates (matching what "Show Coordinates" displays) - Choose your category — Step 1 of the menu shows a dropdown of block categories (Concrete, Stone & Bricks, Nether, etc.).
- Configure your fill — Step 2 shows the blocks available in that category along with fill options: mode, replace toggle, and pattern settings.
There's now also an option to reselect your category if you chose wrong. - Confirm — The wand fills your selection immediately.
Fill Modes
- Fill — Fills the entire selected region solid with your chosen block.
- Outline — Places only the outer shell of the region, leaving the interior untouched. Works correctly for 3D boxes, flat 2D rectangles, and 1D lines.
- Pattern — Places blocks in a repeating pattern across the region. Two pattern types are available:
- Checkerboard — Alternating diagonal pattern. Spacing controls how many blocks apart each placed block is.
- Straight Line — Draws a straight line from Pos1 to Pos2 using a 3D Bresenham algorithm, with optional spacing between placed blocks.
Replace Toggle
When Replace is enabled, existing blocks in the region are overwritten. When disabled, only air blocks are filled.
Survival Mode
In survival mode the wand checks your inventory before filling. If you don't have enough blocks to complete the fill, a confirmation screen tells you how many you have versus how many are needed and lets you choose to fill as many as you have or cancel.
Block Categories
18 categories covering 191 blocks including concrete, terracotta, glazed terracotta, stone, deepslate, sandstone, nether blocks, wood planks, ores, metal and gem blocks, fences, iron bars, prismarine, ice, and more.
Block Limit
Version 1.2.2 has increased the block fill limit from 50,000 blocks to 524,288 blocks. Equivalent to a 4x4 chunk area 128 blocks high or 4 full chunk columns. The fill runs in the background so the game remains playable while the fill progresses. Blocks can only be placed in chunks that are currently loaded so if you select an area outside of your current chunk you will either need to move around to allow the blocks to fill in the other chunks or you can increase your Simulation Distance so that this isn't an issue. Blocks will continue to load in the background for up to 5 minutes, you will get a chat notification when the load completes or times out with the number of blocks loaded and/or failed.
