Bountiful Harvest - Farming Overhaul

I am back with another amazing Add-on. I have been playing a lot of survival minecraft recently and i noticed something. Farming in this game is so incredibly boring. You just plant some seeds, go away to mine or build a house, and then come back to punch the fully grown wheat. There is no excitement or skill involved at all.

I wanted to make farming feel like an actual profession where you get rewarded for paying attention to your fields. So i made the RR Bountiful Harvest addon. This pack completely overhauls how crops work and adds some really cool mechanics like perfect harvests, jackpots, and even crop rotting if you are too lazy.

​Farmers Whisper and The UI Menu

So before I talk about the harvesting let me tell you about the coolest feature I added. It is called the Farmers Whisper. If you are waiting for your crops to grow and you dont have any bonemeal you can actually just walk into your farm and sneak. If you stay sneaking for 5 seconds near your crops, the plants will actually respond to your presence. 

You will hear a soft magical sound and green bonemeal particles will start appearing. Every 3 seconds one random crop near you will grow to the next stage automatically. It makes you feel like a real plant whisperer. Also when you join the world you get an item called the Harvest Compass which is just a named clock. 

If you sneak and use this clock it opens a huge UI menu. In this menu you can track all your farming stats like how many perfect harvests you got or how many jackpots you hit. It even gives you titles like Legend of the Land if you harvest 1000 crops. I put the menu in so you can flex your farming stats to your friends on the server.

Now lets talk about actually breaking the crops. If you harvest a crop when it is fully grown like max level wheat or carrots, you perform a Perfect Harvest. The game recognizes this and gives you guaranteed double drops plus extra seeds so you never run out. You also get a nice level up sound and 5 free XP points just for harvesting correctly. But here is the crazy part.

Every time you do a perfect harvest there is a rare 3 percent chance to hit a Jackpot Harvest. If this happens you will hear a massive totem sound and a big title appears on your screen. The crop will literally explode with 10 to 15 extra items and give you 30 XP instantly. It is so satisfying when you are harvesting a huge field and suddenly hit a jackpot. It actually makes farming super addictive.

​The Crop Rot System

But i also wanted to balance the game so you cant just plant a massive field and ignore it for hours. If you plant a crop and it reaches full growth, a hidden timer starts. You have exactly 10 minutes to harvest that crop. If you forget about it and leave it sitting there for too long, the crop will literally rot. If you try to harvest a rotten crop you wont get any wheat or carrots. Instead the game gives you junk items like poisonous potatoes, dead bushes or rotten flesh. It also gives you a sad chat message saying nature does not wait for the lazy. So you really have to manage your farm properly now.

​Beta APIs Setup

It is necessary to turn it on l. uses custom dynamic properties to save your exact farming stats and tracks individual plant timers. So you absolutely must turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings before you play. If you dont turn it on the compass menu wont open and crops will just drop normal vanilla items and the rotting system wont work at all.
