Biomes to Build In

Addon to Building in Biomes. Adds biomes

Banner

As I have said many times in the original project's page, Building in Biomes was originally meant to be an exploration addon instead of a building one.

The goal of this expansion is to add all the scrapped biomes that were going to be in the original add-on, albeit with tweaks and much more mechanics!

//The first release only contains two biomes: more will come and expect updates on the old ones!

//This add-on is NOT a standalone project, therefore Building in Biomes IS needed for this to function correctly

The Biomes:

Windswept Glaciers

Windswept glaciers

The Windswept Glaciers are the first biome I wanted to add. They uncommonly generate in mountainous areas, where Meadows, Groves or Snowy Slopes would be.

Appearance:

Generation-wise, there are no particular terrain features that differs the biome from icy plains. Originally, they were going to resemble the Monolith glitch from early versions of Minecraft, with Chillstone replacing normal stone. Then, they would contain Gravy Snow and Shale, and generate like Snowy Peaks but in the end I went for a more simple approach. No ravines, smooth hilly areas, perfect for isolated buildings.

Peculiarities:

The biome is engulfed in a thick fog, similar to the one present in Basalt Deltas. While visually similar to snowy plains, they are instantly recognizable due to the presence of the elusive Chillwood trees, which are particularly dense in some areas and visually striking due to their unnatural shape and azure bark, which is interestingly similar to Pale Oak.

Any explorer should value these trees, as they cannot be reproduced by normal means and light blue wood is not found elsewhere in the world of Minecraft. Like Taiga biomes, cobbled boulders are present, though they are made of Chillstone.

Bestiary:

Due to its unforgiving climate, you cannot expect to find regular creatures in this biome. No wandering traders are going to annoy you when building your shelter! Unfortunately, during nighttime you'll have to face this biome's only inhabitants: Chillagers, Coldagers and Pale Walkers.

Whilst Chillagers can be spotted in other cold areas, Coldagers are exclusive to this biome. They wear the same hood, robe and pajamas and act as the basic ranged foe, shooting you with their Cold Cannon. Like their more chill brothers they come in three variants: Normal, Summoner and Assailant.

Pale Walkers are like husks: zombies who have adapted to the cold climate. They are way slower than normal ones, but they are tankier and resist to knockback. Their loot table is the same as normal zombies, and they basically act as meatshields to the ranged Illagers.

Dire Straits

Dire Straits Microclimate

Dire Straits are a direct contrast to the Windswept Glaciers. They aren't an easy biome to build in, but the bizarre atmosphere makes up for it.

Appearance:

Dire Straits are the same as any Mesa Bryce, but are visually distinct thanks to the brown terracotta, which contributes to the surreal feeling of the land. The biome is either a large portion of terrain which can be made out of mountains and plains or a very small piece of land, generated like Windswept Savannas. Instead of red sand, Brown Concrete powder is present. Lore implications of that is up to theorists.

Peculiarities:

The first thing one is going to notice upon entering the biome is the uncanny amount of orange present. Any vegetation placed here is going to turn orange. Even the sky is that color.

Although the biome seems to be of a torrid temperature, animals can still spawn and a specil type of pumpkin grows in the "sandy" areas. Also, scattered across the biome, unusual structures that consist of a spike with what seems to be a boulder are present. The more I talk about this biome, the more I get reminded of some area 51 shenanigans. Surely the aliens did something here.

Bestiary:

As I have said before, regular farm animals spawn here. Also, during the night, Zombies are more likely to spawn than Husks.

Also, Illagers seem to be adapting to every biome they go, as across the biome some hideouts are present. They consist of a hideout containing very dangerous enemies: the Bandits. Wearing similar clothes to Pillagers, they can carry Swords, Crossbows and even Cannate. Be careful, as they are led by a Capt'n, which has the ability to switch between weapons and has more health.
