What's new

[4.0.0] - 2026-09-16

Breaking Changes

  • Commands removed: All /worldborder:* commands except /worldborder:menu have been removed. Every setting is configured through the menu; automation uses the new ScriptEvent API (below). Command blocks using the old commands must be updated.
  • Strict bypass whitelist: Operators and admins are no longer automatically allowed through the border. Only players on the bypass whitelist can cross it. The border_bypass tag is no longer honoured - add players via the menu or /scriptevent worldborder:whitelist add <player>.
  • New border style set: The numbered styles (Style 1-10) have been replaced with a named set of better-optimised patterns. Worlds upgrading revert to the Default style until a new one is chosen.

Added

  • Custom Areas: Create any number of separate bordered regions (e.g. a PvP arena far from the main world), each with its own full set of settings. Players are always returned to the region they were last inside, so leaving an arena puts you back in the arena. Manage them from the new Custom Areas menu or the worldborder:area scriptevent; every scriptevent accepts an area id as its target.
  • ScriptEvent API: Control every border setting from command blocks, functions and other addons with /scriptevent worldborder:<action> ..., e.g. /scriptevent worldborder:shrink overworld 1 on a daily clock. Run /scriptevent worldborder:help for the full list.
  • Bypass Whitelist menu: Add online players or remove whitelisted players via dropdowns.
  • Status view: Per-dimension, per-area and whitelist status, readable from the main menu.
  • Border styles: Default, Square Lines, Tribal, Straight Lines, Square Cross, Glass Circle, Cross, Hearts, Hexagon, Glyphs and Square, each with a preview icon in the dropdown.
  • Tooltips on every settings field explaining what it does.
  • Colour names in the Border Colour dropdown are shown in their actual colour.
  • "Show Border Particles" toggle is now exposed in the settings form.
  • Resource pack now ships with the same pack icon as the behavior pack.

Fixed

  • Wall corners: Border walls now stop exactly at the corners instead of overshooting into a cross shape, including for borders whose centre is not chunk-aligned.
  • All nearby borders (main and areas) are rendered at once, not just the one you are inside.
