What's new

Neighborhood | Living Players — v0.10.2

This major update transforms Living Players into controllable companions with parties, equipment, unique appearances, specialized jobs, improved movement, and persistent construction.

New Party System

  • Recruit up to four Living Players into your personal party.

  • Order individual companions—or your entire party—to follow you.

  • Release companions so they can return to their normal class work.

  • Party membership remains saved when companions are unloaded or far away.

  • Added the craftable Party Manager using one Compass and one Book.

  • Residents cannot be recruited by multiple players simultaneously.

New Party HUD

  • Added a custom portrait-based party display.

  • View each companion’s name, class, health, distance, appearance, and current status.

  • Party members are marked as following, working, away, or in another dimension.

  • Supports up to four companions at once.

Real Inventory and Equipment Management

  • Every companion now has a protected 27-slot backpack.

  • Added dedicated equipment slots for:

    • Helmet

    • Chestplate

    • Leggings

    • Boots

    • Main-hand item

    • Off-hand item

  • Transfer complete item stacks between your inventory and companion backpacks.

  • Equip and unequip items directly through the Party Manager.

  • Custom names, enchantments, durability, and other item data are preserved.

  • Equipment is protected against duplication and accidental drops.

  • Armor and shields now affect companion protection.

  • Sharpness and Fire Aspect work on equipped weapons.

  • Equipment loses durability through normal use.

  • Off-hand Totems of Undying can rescue defeated companions.

16 Selectable Appearances

Every companion can now choose between the original class outfit and 15 additional appearances:

  • Cobalt Engineer

  • Harvest Farmer

  • Lavender Healer

  • Crimson Guardian

  • Woodland Ranger

  • Copper Mechanic

  • Twilight Mage

  • Coral Performer

  • Midnight Veteran

  • Rose Gardener

  • Tide Sailor

  • Olive Scout

  • Cream Chef

  • Ember Smith

  • Sky Scholar

Changing appearance does not reset the resident’s name, class, equipment, relationships, inventory, or goals.

Expanded Class Work

Living Players now behave according to their assigned class:

  • Builders clear land and complete construction projects.

  • Miners gather stone, coal, ore, and other resources.

  • Blacksmiths collect materials and forge equipment.

  • Farmers till soil, plant seeds, harvest crops, replant fields, and bake bread.

  • Fighters guard nearby players and engage hostile mobs.

  • Explorers travel and discover new locations.

  • Scouts investigate distant areas and routes.

  • Social residents focus on relationships, conversations, and community goals.

Players can order party members to follow them or resume their natural class work at any time.

Persistent Blueprint Construction

  • Construction projects now use persistent saved blueprints.

  • Builders clear and level the selected plot before construction begins.

  • Projects pause when materials are missing and resume after supplies are gathered.

  • Interrupted projects can recover after the world reloads.

  • Builders inspect finished structures and replace missing blueprint blocks.

  • Player-created or protected blocks are no longer silently destroyed.

  • Obstructed blueprint sections remain queued until the obstruction is removed.

  • Dirt-only platforms have been replaced with proper paid floor blueprints.

Movement and Navigation Improvements

  • Added bounded hazard-aware pathfinding.

  • Residents can navigate around walls and common obstacles.

  • Supports one-block rises and controlled drops of up to two blocks.

  • Residents check for full two-block walking clearance.

  • Wooden doors can be opened when approached.

  • Lava, fire, water, cactus, magma, campfires, powder snow, portals, and other dangerous routes are avoided.

  • Removed competing movement systems that caused walking in place and twitching.

  • Walking animations are now based on actual distance traveled.

  • Stalled residents temporarily return to native movement instead of repeatedly pushing into the same obstacle.

Neighborhood Interface Improvements

  • Added a redesigned Neighborhood Tablet interface.

  • Household profiles display health, food, energy, mood, goals, relationships, and current activity.

  • Added custom portraits, icons, buttons, backgrounds, and companion equipment screens.

  • Added dedicated Neighborhood Tablet, Pocket Communicator, and Party Manager visuals.

  • Interfaces support scrolling and smaller display sizes.

Compatibility

  • Both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack must be enabled.

  • Minimum supported engine version is now Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.100.

  • Uses stable Script API 2.0.0 modules.

  • No additional programs, servers, or experimental APIs are required.

  • Existing pack UUIDs were retained to support updating older installations.
