When wanted by authorities, if Henry surrenders, or is incapacitated, he can no longer fight or escape. He must either pay the fine, accept his punishment, or talk his way out. Skill checks for avoiding fines or punishment have been reworked to be easy on the low end, but much more difficult as the severity of the crime increases. However, Henry cannot talk his way out of capital (Branding) crimes.
Crimes are divided into four general categories, by punishment severity. Some punishments scale with a victim's social class, thus, these categories can be fluid, dependent on low or highborn victim(s).
Petty Crimes:
- Mostly non-violent crimes such as harassment, trespassing, and general mischief.
- These require escalation, and don't usually require arrest.
- Can be paid off with a compensation of 10-50 Groschen.
- Are generally forgotten within a few days, at most.
Pillory Crimes:
- These consist of minor assault, minor theft, and desecrating the dead.
- Can be paid off with a fine of 50-100 Groschen.
- Generally forgotten within a week.
Flogging (Beating) Crimes:
- These consist of major violence, rustling, and resisting arrest (or jailbreak).
- Can be paid off with a fine of 100-500 Groschen.
- Generally forgotten within 1-2 weeks.
Branding Crimes:
- If Henry's fines reach 1000Gr, he cannot talk his way out.
- Murder fine is a blood-price, and thus 5000Gr.
- Poaching is a capital crime, and thus its fine is 1000Gr.
- There is no change to the rules involving hanging.
- Takes 3 weeks to be forgotten.
Punishment debuffs and their durations now standardized across difficulty, favoring HardCore.
Pillory:
- Charisma penalty 10.
- Reputation gains reduced by 50%.
- Conspicuousness increased 20-50, scaling by severity.
- Duration 30min.
Beating:
- Charisma penalty 10.
- Reputation gains reduced by 50%.
- Stat reduction 50-75%, scaling by severity.
- Duration 30-60min, scaling by severity.
NPCs are generally less tolerant of criminal behavior. Henry's reputation and other Realish mods such as NPCs and Enemies, will also influence NPC tolerance for mischief.
Other, General Changes:
- Discounts for fines removed from Law perk.
- Most suspected crimes (involving weapons) will constitute a frisk by guards.
- Trespassing escalation occurs much sooner.
- Henry more likely to be robbed while unconscious.
NPC Reactivity
- Henry is more likely to be frisked if loitering near guards.
- NPCs are more likely to press charges for repeated horse collisions.
- NPCs are more likely to refuse service to criminal Henry.
- NPC bystanders are more likely to report Henry or flee.
- NPCs view criminal Henry with suspicion, longer.
Compatibility:
- All buff, scriptparam, item, and crime files PTF.
- Non-PTF files include Crime.lua and Guard dialogue.
- This mod is only compatible with Realish NPCs v1.60+, and should not be used with any previous versions.
