This mod adds a "fatigue" system, in which players will lose a percentage of maximum health when damaged until they rest, for a more realistic, intense survival experience.

Survival Overhaul - Fatigue

0.3.1 - Bug fix for stamina clamping causing guard/stamina break status to not go away when stamina was fatigued. Updated to patch 3.

Hardcore Fatigue System for Hytale

Survival Overhaul aims to bring a hardcore survival experience to Hytale, inspired from games or mods like RLCraft, Escape From Tarkov, Outward, and others. Fatigue adds a persistent "fatigue" system to Hytale, where damage has larger consequences, making getting hit and tanking damage more risky. When a player is damaged, a portion of that damage taken reduces your max health and how much you can heal back up to. This can be restored by resting near a lit campfire.


Features

Fatigue System
Taking damage will reduce your maximum health by a percentage until you rest. This is achieved by placing a limit on your health that can't go above your current "maximum". Though your health in-game may say something like 77/100, you may notice in-game it won't heal above that. This mod is achieved by using a hidden number that you can't heal above until you rest. Type /fatigue in-game to check.

Restore your maximum health by standing near a lit campfire. To do this, first craft a campfire, place it down, add logs, sticks, or another fuel, and turn it on.

Stamina Fatigue System

Using more than 50% of your stamina will reduce your maximum stamina by a percentage until you rest. You may notice your stamina bar continuously regening with this mod, as that's how the vanilla game works. I'm not sure of another way this could be implemented at the moment, but it works for now. You can restore your maximum stamina by also resting at a lit campfire.

 

Command

Type /fatigue in-game to see your current status. It will display your current health amount vs your current max, your current maximum health vs your fully rested maximum health, and the percentage of your health that is currently fatigued. It will also give a helpful message to rest at a campfire if you forget!

 

 

Config

fatigue_config is located in your worlds main folder. It has these values by default that you can change to suit your needs: 

 
  "healthFatigueMultiplier": 0.2, (How much % of damage you take is taken off your max health)
  "healthMinimumFloor": 10.0, (The minimum your health can be reduced to)
  "healthRecoveryPerSecond": 1.0, (how much health per second you recover at a campfire)
  "staminaExertionThreshold": 0.5, (the percentage of stamina needed to be consumed to lose % max, 0.5 is 50%)
  "staminaExertionPenalty": 0.05, (how much % of your stamina you lose when applied, 0.05 is 5%)
  "staminaMinimumPercent": 0.1, (the minimum % your max stamina can be lost)
  "staminaRecoveryPerSecond": 0.20, (how much stamina is recovered per second at a campfire)
  "campfireRange": 5.0, (how close you have to be to a campfire to get its benefits)
  "campfireBlockId": "*Bench_Campfire_State_Definitions_Processing", (Name of campfire block when lit, I wouldn't change this for now)
  "enableDebugLogging": true (debug tool, showing server log messages if needed)
 

 


How It Works

When a player is damaged, a small percentage of that damage taken is removed from your max health in a hidden number in the background. You will not be able to regen/heal above that health until you rest, as the mod will set your health back down to your "current" max.

 


 

Active Development

This mod is in active development and more is planned to add to it.

Planned updates include:

Adding a config to adjust the percentage of damage taken applied to max health loss

Stamina fatigue

Other ways to rest, including sleeping in a bed to restore fully
