Stayed: Nobody Builds Alone
After the Sundering, the cities are gone. What's left is forest, rubble, and scattered survivors with nowhere to go.
Stayed is a village-building mod where you rebuild what was lost, one survivor at a time.
What's New in v0.8.5
Please update if you are playing an older version.
This release focuses heavily on making villagers and Aelin much more reliable after leaving the village, unloading chunks, restarting the world, or updating from earlier versions.
New
- Farmers now actively work the farm. They can water, replant, tend, and harvest crops during their work schedule.
- Farmers work with the crops you plant, not only default crops. Harvested crops are sent directly to Warehouse storage.
- The Town Hall now has a Population tab, where you can recall Aelin and your villagers back to the Town Hall.

Note about farming: farmers will not harvest crops unless your village has a Warehouse, because they need somewhere to store the harvest. They can still maintain the farm before that.
Important NPC Persistence Fixes
This update includes a major pass on NPC persistence. Villagers and Aelin should now keep their skins, interaction prompts, homes, jobs, and village links much more reliably after chunk unloads, world restarts, and version updates.
If you had broken, missing, naked, or non-interactable NPCs in 0.8.3 or 0.8.4, this update may be able to recover them automatically when you load the village again.
If an NPC still looks stuck or broken after updating, try using Recall:
- Use the Population tab in the Town Hall to recall Aelin or villagers.
- (or) Use a villager's house recall option if that villager is assigned to a home.
- Wait a few seconds after recalling, as the village may need a moment to restore their role and behavior.
- If the NPC still does not recover, please report it in our Discord and include your latest server log if possible.
One note about older broken saves: after updating, you may still see old naked NPC clones walking around your village. These are leftover duplicates from the old bug. The real villagers should now be restored correctly, so you can safely kill/remove those naked, non-interactable clones manually or with the Entity Tool. They are not part of your village data anymore and should not come back once removed.
I did not automate this cleanup because deleting every untracked NPC near the village could also remove unrelated NPCs or companions from other mods.

What's New in v0.8.4
New
- Automatic pathways between buildings. Villages now grow a road network connecting houses and workplaces, re-routed as the village expands.
- Multiple variants for human houses, with the village remembering your last pick.

Note about pathways: the algorithm isn't perfect and may misplace blocks at the ends, where a road meets a building. Feel free to fix those by hand, or just leave them. Pathways are saved as data, so future updates can improve them retroactively. To generate the road network in an existing village after updating, simply build any new building.

The Story
There's a campfire near spawn. Aelin is sitting next to it, an elven architect who has outlived everything he ever built.

Together you'll lay the Founding Stone, raise a Town Hall, and start something that hasn't existed in this part of Orbis for a long time: a home.

A village needs people. Out in the woods, past the goblin patrols, there are survivors with nowhere left to go.

Bring them back. Give them work. Give them a house. Watch the place grow and come alive.

Features
- Aelin as your guide, builder, and quest giver
- Rescue and recruit survivors from the wild
- Build a Farm, Warehouse, Sawmill, Mine, each with working villagers
- Watch your settlement grow from a campfire to a village
