Gilded Dreams  // A Full Player Economy for Hytale

Most mods hand you a currency. Gilded Dreams hands you an economy. Found a shop, hire a shopkeeper, bank your gold, fight a bidding war in a live auction house, hunt down a wandering trader, and trade face-to-face with another player — all through clean, button-driven hubs. Built for servers where gold is supposed to mean something.

Main commands: /shop, /bank, /auction, /trade, /gold (plus admin hubs) Requires: Hytale server 0.5.6+ Pairs with: Empires by the same team // taxes, treasuries, and founding costs all run on Gilded Dreams gold.

Live on our main server PyreTale, running alongside Empires, The Armoury by LadyPaladra, and Hexcode – Magic by Design by Riprod. Come see it in motion before you install it.

OVERVIEW

Gilded Dreams is the economic backbone of a Hytale server. Not a "/balance" plugin with a shop sign, a living market. Players earn gold from mobs and trade, found their own shops with a real NPC shopkeeper standing behind the counter, open banks that charge their own transaction tax, and outbid each other in a server-wide auction house that announces every listing to trade chat.

Every gold coin is one currency, shared across shops, banks, auctions, trades, and, if you run Empires, taxes and treasuries too. Economics and politics run as one system instead of two plugins ignoring each other.

Everything is managed through the same button-driven menus as the rest of the ecosystem: the Shop Hub, the Bank Hub, the Auction House, the wandering-merchant restock hub, and admin panels for the server team. Nobody memorizes forty commands to run a marketplace, and players can see exactly what's for sale and what it's worth.

KEY FEATURES

The Auction House

A full player-run bidding house, not a fixed-price board. Everything happens in one hub with six tabs.

  • Real bidding wars. Raise by 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 or 1000 gold, or type a custom amount. Minimum raise is 5g, and every bid must beat the current one.
  • A confirmation step before every bid // click an increment and you get "Place a bid of 1,115g?" with confirm and cancel. A misclick on the 1000 button can never cost you a fortune.
  • Bids are backed by your bank. Gold isn't taken when you bid, it's taken when you win. If the top bidder can't cover it at settlement, the item automatically falls to the next-highest bidder, then the next,  no dead auctions.
  • Durations from 1 hour to 24 hours, chosen from a dropdown when you list.
  • A listing fee (10% of your starting bid by default, configurable) keeps the house honest, nobody parks items at a million gold as free storage.
  • Five active auctions per seller, so no one floods the board.
  • WINNINGS tab // everything you've won waits safely in a mailbox until you collect it. Won something with a full inventory? Nothing is lost. Withdraw takes what fits and leaves the rest.
  • PAST AUCTIONS tab // your full selling history: what sold, who bought it, what they paid, what came back unsold, and a running total of gold earned.

Auction Notifications

The market talks to your players instead of making them check a menu.

  • Trade-chat announcements for every new listing, every auction entering its final stretch (with the real time remaining and current bid), and every sale with the winner and final price.
  • Personal alerts the moment someone outbids you, and the moment you win, delivered in bold so they don't scroll past.
  • Sellers get told too: first bid received, item sold, or item expired unsold.
  • Offline? Nothing is missed. Alerts are queued and delivered the next time that player loads in.
  • Any player can mute the noise with /auction alerts or a toggle in the hub, public announcements go quiet, personal win/outbid alerts still come through.

Player Shops

  • Found a shop for gold and a real NPC shopkeeper spawns to run the counter, no signs, no chests, an actual merchant standing in the world
  • Nine shopkeeper species: Klops, Feran, Trork Shaman, Goblin Ogre, Goblin Scavenger, Kweebec, Outlander, Skeleton Fighter, and Bramblekin, swap species any time and the NPC changes on the spot
  • Sell items AND post buy orders: stock goods for players to buy, or deposit gold so your shop pays players for items you want, a full two-way market
  • Live item-search storefront: customers type an item and matching listings appear as they type, searching every shop on the server at once
  • Full self-service management from /shop hub: stock with per-item prices and quantities, restock, edit prices, rename, change your shopkeeper, and track earnings
  • Move and turn your shopkeeper // reposition the NPC to your feet, or turn it left and right to face the crowd, and it stays put across restarts
  • Safe close-out: closing a shop returns your stock to your inventory (with a clear warning if you're out of space) and credits pending earnings to your bank, nothing is ever lost
  • Earnings bank per shop with deposit/withdraw for funding buy orders

Server Shops (Admin)

  • Seed the world with server-run stores from a dedicated SERVER SHOPS tab in the admin hub
  • Unlimited stock so a server store never runs dry, with per-item buy and sell prices
  • Live item-catalog search when stocking,  start typing and the item database autocompletes for you, no memorizing item IDs
  • Full per-shop control: teleport to it, turn it, rename it on the spot, edit its stock, respawn it to your position, or delete it,  all from one scrollable list that scales to hundreds of shops
  • Custom names that show on the NPC's nameplate and as the title of the shop window players see

Banking

  • Player-owned banks: found your own bank, place banker NPCs, and set a transaction tax (0 up to a server-configured cap) that earns you a cut of every deposit and withdrawal made at your branch
  • Official/admin banks run by staff for a public option, with their own dedicated management hub
  • Multi-branch: place extra banker NPCs and manage them from /bank hub,  a scrollable roster with coordinates, plus move, turn, rename, and delete on each one
  • /bankadmin hub // a scrolling admin panel listing every official bank on the server, with per-banker rename, teleport, move-to-me, turn, and delete
  • Per-banker tax overrides: staff can set a specific tax rate on any individual banker, or leave it to inherit the bank's default, honored live at the counter
  • Stored gold vs. inventory gold: a real bank balance separate from the coins in your pockets, so wealth survives death and theft
  • Transaction ledger logging every movement for transparency

Wandering Merchants

  • Roaming traders spawn out in the world near players, wearing a custom Bear Merchant model with borrowed vanilla animations
  • Genuinely huntable // wandering merchants can be attacked and killed, unlike the protected shopkeepers and bankers
  • Kept at a natural density: the world keeps roughly one trader within range of each player, refreshed on a timer, living a few in-game days before moving on, so they're always findable but never a crowd
  • Server-controlled stock pool: admins curate exactly what wandering merchants can sell from a restock hub, with live item-catalog search,  and edit any product line in place, adjusting price or quantity without deleting and re-adding it
  • Randomized per-merchant pricing: set a price range (e.g. 5–15 gold) and each merchant rolls its own price on spawn, fixed until it despawns,  no two traders are quite the same
  • Per-world spawn control: choose which worlds merchants appear in. The config lists every world automatically, flip any world to off and traders stop appearing there, live on /gd reload. Enabled everywhere by default.

NPC Gold Drops — Fully Configurable

  • You decide which NPCs pay out, and how much. A dedicated gold_drops.cfg controls every drop in the game.
  • Tiered out of the box: fodder like goblins drop a few coins, elites like ogres and wraiths drop far more, bosses drop a small fortune.
  • Animals don't print money. Chickens, cows, deer, fish, and other passive critters are excluded by default.
  • Set a range per NPC (drop = Trork, 4, 9) and each kill rolls within it.
  • Works with any mod's NPCs. Rules match on the NPC's role name, so adding a creature from another mod is one line. Unlisted NPCs drop nothing by default, so a new mod can never accidentally flood your economy.
  • Built-in discovery tools: /gd roles <search> lists every NPC role on your server (modded included), and a log_unmatched option prints the exact name of anything that dies without a rule.
  • Live reload with /gd reload // retune your whole drop economy without a restart.

Player-to-Player Trading

  • Secure face-to-face trades with /trade: swap items and gold in a locked two-party window where both sides confirm, no scams, no dropping loot on the ground and hoping

Gold Economy Core

  • One currency underpinning every system: shops, banks, auctions, trades, and Empires taxes all move the same gold
  • /gold (aliases /balance, /bal) shows stored + inventory gold at a glance; admins can grant gold with /gold give

Built for Server Owners

  • Three documented config files, written automatically on first boot:
    • gildeddreams.cfg // shop founding cost, bank founding cost, banker-placement cost, default and maximum bank tax, auction listing fee, and NPC turn step
    • wandering_merchant.cfg // the merchant's stock pool, price ranges, lifespan, model, role, and which worlds they're allowed to spawn in
    • gold_drops.cfg // which NPCs drop gold, how much, and what's excluded
  • Live reload with /gd reload // tune costs, taxes, fees and drops without restarting the server
  • Full NPC control: every shopkeeper, banker, and server-shop merchant can be teleported to, moved to your feet, turned, renamed, and deleted from its hub, reposition your whole economy without touching a config
  • Rock-solid NPC persistence: shopkeepers, bankers, auctioneers, and traders survive restarts, never duplicate, and stay exactly where you put them
  • Shopkeepers are protected and peaceful: no wandering off, no combat, no damage dealt or taken,  a shop NPC is a fixture, not a mob
  • Atomic, safe settlement: auctions settle exactly once, gold moves in a single transaction, and winnings are held in a mailbox rather than risked on a full inventory
  • SQLite storage, single jar, an included asset pack // battle-tested live on a real server, not just a dev world

THE HUBS

Same UI language as Empires, so the whole package plays like one game instead of a stack of plugins.

  • Auction House (/auction): Browse every live listing, My Auctions, Active Bids (with winning/outbid status at a glance), Winnings, Past Auctions, and Sell An Item
  • Shop Hub (/shop hub): manage your own shops, plus tabs for a live Player Shops directory, Item Search across the server, Buy Orders, and (for staff) Server Shops
  • Bank Hub (/bank hub): your balance, your branches, your tax rate, and place/move/turn/delete for every banker you own
  • Bank Admin Hub (/bankadmin hub): staff view of every official bank on the server, with rename, per-banker tax, teleport, move, turn, and delete
  • Merchant Admin Hub (/merchantadmin hub): curate the wandering-merchant stock pool, with add, edit-in-place, and remove
  • Gilded Dreams Hub (/gd): the front door to it all
