Maritime Life - Sailable Boats, Ships & Yachts

Real sailing in Hytale. Build a catamaran or sailing yacht, take the helm and sail it yourself. Boost sail, walkable swaying deck, night lights, crew aboard, sleep below deck. Hop on the jet ski and jump the ramp. More ships, harbours and marinas planned.

What's new

First release. Requires Hytale Update 6 (0.6.0).

Added

Vessels

  • Eclipse 41, a 41 ft cruising catamaran: walkable deck and cabin roof, two dolphin seats over the bows, stern boarding ladders for swimmers, code zero boost sail, cockpit lamp and full navigation lights.
  • Aurora 48, a 48 ft sailing yacht: wheel in the aft cockpit, two cockpit seats and a bow seat for a crew of four, stern swim platform, gennaker for fast runs. Walk-in interior below deck: saloon with galley and sideboard, sleeping cabin with island bed, wetroom forward, all walkable under sail. Trims bow-up and heels through her turns.
  • Splash 9, a two-seat jet ski: hop on from the water and ride astride, with a pillion seat behind. Turbo, engine sound that revs with speed, rooster-tail wake, headlight and tail light. Rides bow-up and leans into turns.
  • Kicker 8, a floating jump ramp: 8 blocks of run, 5 blocks of rise. Solid to every hull on the sides and back, walkable steps.

Sailing

  • Helm control with F and W A S D; the camera stays free and jump releases the wheel.
  • Boost sails on key 9 (code zero, gennaker, turbo); a hard turn can blow the sail.
  • Station camera: key 7 for first person, key 8 or right-click for a wide view, automatic pull-back at boost speed. The normal camera returns on leaving the station.
  • Hulls carry standing players through sway, so the crew moves around while someone else steers.
  • Hull-true collision: boats slide along shores and fenders instead of sticking, and never overlap each other. Placement beside another boat goes by hull shape, not a distance ring.
  • Jumps with real physics: launch off banks or the ramp, fly an arc, splash down. Beach landings stop dead; driving off an edge falls. Driver and passenger re-seat automatically after a hard landing.
  • Lag recovery at every station: a stalled driver or pillion is put back on their station with a chat notice; raised seats release instead, and a driver genuinely overboard loses the helm.
  • Wake, spray and idle water effects; sailing, engine and water sound throughout.
  • Fully server-authoritative and built for multiplayer.

Life on board

  • Sleep in the Aurora's bed: when every player sleeps, morning comes.
  • The first sleep sets a respawn point that sails with the boat: die anywhere, wake up on your yacht wherever she is now.
  • 18 slots of storage in the saloon sideboard, kept through server restarts and inside the packed-up item.
  • Lights on every vessel with /maritimelife lights, from navigation lights down to the Aurora's interior strips and reading lamps.

Items and ownership

  • Every vessel is craftable at a workbench (Tinkering tab); creative mode gets /maritimelife spawn and /maritimelife item.
  • Placement checks the spot first: dry land, a blocked shoreline or a swimmer in the way refuses with a clear message and never consumes the item.
  • Pack-up with a double press of F on the hull; storage contents travel inside the item. On an owned boat, only the owner can pack her up.
  • Boats lock to their owner on placement: the wheel and the bed are for the owner and crew, guests can always sit and ride along. Access via /maritimelife access lock | unlock | allow | deny | crew.
  • Denying a player, locking the boat or removing her clears any respawn point they had aboard, even while they are offline.
  • Creative flight releases any helm, seat or bed cleanly on takeoff.

For server admins

  • Speed, turning and boost are tunable per vessel in mods/Trendvogel_MaritimeLife/tuning.json (MLV001 = Eclipse 41, MLV002 = Splash 9, MLV003 = Aurora 48), written with defaults on first start.
  • A broken tuning edit stops the server with a log line naming the exact problem; the file is never overwritten.
  • /maritimelife lists every command. Spawn, item and remove are creative-only; the hytale:Admin group can force-remove locked boats. /maritimelife remove all clears every boat in the world, loaded or not; both remove forms ask for a second run to confirm.
