Description

Living World Events

Living World Events

A world that doesn't wait for you. Living World Events brings Hytale's world to life with world events: they come on their own, each one plays differently, has its own monsters and bosses, and drops loot you can't get anywhere else. New events open up as you progress, and the rarest rewards are worth waiting for.

πŸ†• New in 1.1.0: the Blood Moon's own loot and gear to craft, a reforged Crimson Scythe with a new look and new moves, and a tougher, fairer Crimson Herald.

🚧 Work in progress. The first event, the Blood Moon, is here and still growing. The rest are on the way. Your feedback shapes what comes next.

🧭 From the maker of Harder Nights. This is its successor: everything Harder Nights did is here and more. Remove Harder Nights before installing (running both doubles the monsters).

πŸ—ΊοΈ The road ahead

Event Status What it brings
🩸 Blood Moon βœ… Available now The night turns red and the world invades. Something waits at its end.
⛏️ Drill Defense πŸ”œ Coming later A goblin tinkerer strikes something deep underground. The Scaraks want it back.
🌱 Kweebec Saplings πŸ”œ Coming later The Kweebecs' saplings are in danger.
🌾 Harvest Festival πŸ”œ Coming later A feast for the whole village… if nobody crashes it.
❔ ??? πŸ”’ Coming later The goblins have been busy.
❔ ??? πŸ”’ Coming later Some nights, the stars fall.
❔ ??? πŸ”’ Coming later The road is long and the cargo is precious.
❔ ??? πŸ”’ Coming later The sun goes dark.
❔ ??? πŸ”’ Coming later Something old is breaking.

Right now the mod includes the Blood Moon and harder nights. Each future event will bring its own gear to craft, and maybe a small companion to take home. Names and details may change.

πŸŒ™ Every night is dangerous

  • More monsters after dark. Monsters build up after sunset, and the night gets more dangerous as it goes on.
  • They come looking for you. Groups of monsters hunt you down, from the ground and from the sky.
  • A home finally matters. A well-lit home is where you survive the night. Light keeps monsters away, dark corners invite them in.
  • A fresh start every morning. When the sun rises, the monsters retreat.
  • Your choice. Easy, Normal, Hard or Nightmare in one click, or turn harder nights down to vanilla and keep only the events.

🩸 Blood Moons βœ…

Some nights the moon rises red. The Moon Bleeds.

The moon rises red

  • A real invasion. Wave after wave of monsters until sunrise, the toughest creatures of each area among them.
  • It grows as you fight. The more your team kills, the stronger it gets: more monsters, tougher ones, and the moon grows bigger.
  • Bosses. A Blood Moon Champion rises when it awakens, and something worse waits at the end. Slay it and the Blood Moon is defeated.
  • Nowhere to hide. You can't sleep through it, and the monsters at your door wait for you if you die.
  • Its own atmosphere: a huge red moon, red swirling clouds, war horns and its own music.
  • Call it yourself. Craft a Blood Moon Omen at the Arcane Bench (or win one from the bosses) to call a Blood Moon tonight, or to end one early.
  • Rare but inevitable. Not every night, but the longer it's been, the closer the next one.

πŸ’€ The Crimson Herald

Some Blood Moons end differently. The music stops. The sky tears open.

At the end of some Blood Moons, something answers from the red moon. The Crimson Herald, a reaper with a blood-red scythe, steps out of a rift and seals you in with it. A dome of runes rises around the fight, and time itself stands still until one of you falls.

  • A real boss fight. Learn its moves, read its warnings, and find your moment. It hits hard and it doesn't wait.
  • It changes. Survive long enough and you'll see what it really is.
  • No running. No way out, nowhere to hide. Bring your friends, it's ready for them too.
  • Worth it. Slay it to defeat the Blood Moon, win the best chest, and maybe claim its Crimson Scythe.

βš”οΈ The Crimson Scythe

A Legendary scythe, torn from the Herald: the Crowned Thorn, a blood-crystal blade under a crowned moonstone.

The Crimson Herald's burning scythe

  • Quick, wide sweeps that leave a crimson trail.
  • Hold to slam: raise it overhead and smash it down; the Herald's blood thorns burst from the ground, slowing and burning everything caught in them, then throw it all back.
  • Signature: the Herald's burning ghost scythe sweeps before you and leaves a wall of fire that burns monsters for 10 seconds.
  • Heals you for part of the damage you deal.
  • Works with leveling and enchantment mods like any heavy weapon.

πŸ—‘οΈ Blood Moon loot and crafting

Blood Moon monsters drop their own loot on the ground: Blood Shards from the horde, Moonstones from the Champion, and a Tyrant Heart and a Tyrant's Skull from the final boss, sometimes with a rare weapon.

  • Bloodletter: a longsword that heals you a little with every hit.
  • Moonfang Staff: a charged drain bolt that heals you.
  • Blood Charm and Moonstone Pendant: heal on hits, hit harder at night.
  • Crimson Mend and Lifesteal runes: heal over time, or heal from your ability's hits.
  • Trophy Satchel: carry up to 6 accessories; they work while they're in it.

πŸ† Blood Moon rewards

Every monster you kill during a Blood Moon earns points; tougher monsters are worth more. The further the Blood Moon goes, the better the chest:

Blood Moon Points (1 player, Normal) What's in the chest
Rising 25 Iron, potions and food
Hungering 80 Thorium or cobalt, gems and new gear
Awakened 150 Adamantite, rune shards and better gear
Burning 245 Mithril, rune shards and rare gear
??? ??? For the very best. Can you find it?
  • A chest at dawn, next to you, with everything you earned. Not there at dawn? It waits until you join.
  • Loot from your other mods too: weapons, armor, food and treasures from your installed mods can end up in it.
  • Slay a boss and everyone who fought gets a chance at extra gear; the night's best fighter gets a Blood Moon Omen.
  • Multiplayer: the team shares one bar, bosses grow tougher with every player, everyone gets their own chest, and the best player is crowned Moonslayer.

Hold out until dawn

Holding out until dawn, with a Cursed Bear from Aures – Rare Monsters among the night's monsters.

βš™οΈ Easy to set up

Type /lwe settings for an in-game settings window:

  • Night difficulty: Easy, Normal, Hard or Nightmare in one click.
  • Sliders: night monsters, Blood Moon monsters, health and damage.
  • Reward difficulty: Easy, Normal or Hard point targets for the chests.
  • How much happens: Calm, Normal or Lively for the whole world.
  • World events: every event, the Blood Moon too, can be set Off, Rare, Normal or Often, and its summon item can be switched off.
  • Switches: the whole mod, sleeping during Blood Moons, the Blood Moon bar, and the Crimson Herald's dome.
  • Blood Moon bar position.

Server owners can fine-tune everything else in config.json in the world's mods/NoeKing_LivingWorldEvents folder.

🧩 Compatibility

  • Made for Hytale Chapter 1 (0.7.0), single player and multiplayer servers.
  • Works with leveling mods: Blood Moon monsters and the Crimson Herald are levelled like any other monster.
  • Works with creature mods: their monsters join the night, and the mod works out on its own which creatures are hostile.
  • Your companions are safe: pets, mounts and summoned allies are never treated as monsters. If a taming mod's pet is ever mistaken for one, add a line like Wolf_Black = normal to overrides.txt in the world's mods/NoeKing_LivingWorldEvents folder.
