Harder Nights

The banner and logo are AI-generated artwork. All other images on this page are real in-game screenshots of the mod.
Every night hunts you. Blood Moons invade.
Nights in Hytale are pretty relaxed: a few monsters wander around and you can mostly ignore them. Harder Nights changes that. After dark, monsters come looking for you, so a safe home finally matters. Every now and then the moon turns red and a full invasion hits until sunrise. Survive it and you get a reward chest worth fighting for.
🌙 Every night is dangerous
- More monsters after dark. Monsters build up after sunset, and the night gets more dangerous as it goes on.
- They come looking for you. Monsters no longer just wander around. Groups of them hunt you down and attack, from the ground and from the sky.
- Building a shelter finally matters. Until now there was little reason to build a house in Hytale. With Harder Nights, a well-lit home is where you survive the night. Light keeps monsters away, and dark corners invite them in.
- A fresh start every morning. When the sun rises, the monsters retreat and the day is yours again.

🩸 Blood Moons
Some nights the moon rises red. The Moon Bleeds.
- A real invasion. Wave after wave of monsters swarms you until sunrise, and the toughest creatures of each area come out to fight.
- Stronger monsters. Everything hits harder and takes more to bring down.
- Nowhere to hide. Monsters already around you close in, and you can't sleep through it.
- Its own atmosphere: a red moon, a warning banner with an omen, and its own eerie music for the night.
- Rare but inevitable. Blood Moons don't come every night, but the longer it's been, the closer the next one is. A brand-new world gets a few calm nights first.
- See it coming. The settings window and
/hardernights statusshow how likely the next Blood Moon is.

🏆 Blood Moon rewards
Every monster you kill during a Blood Moon earns points, and tougher monsters are worth more. Reach higher tiers for better rewards:
| Tier | Points (1 player, Normal) | What's in the chest |
|---|---|---|
| I | 40 | Iron, potions and food |
| II | 120 | Thorium or cobalt, gems and new gear |
| III | 230 | Adamantite and better gear |
| IV | 380 | Mithril and rare gear |
| ??? | ??? | A secret tier for the very best. Can you find it? |
- Loot from your other mods too. Weapons, armor, food and treasures from the mods you have installed can end up in your chest.
- A chest at dawn. When the Blood Moon ends, a reward chest appears next to you with everything you earned.
- Multiplayer. The whole team shares one bar, everyone who fought gets their own chest, and the best player is crowned Moonslayer.
- Not there at dawn? Your chest waits for you and appears the next time you join.

🧩 Compatibility
- Made for Hytale 0.6.8. An update for Chapter 1 will follow when it releases.
- Works with creature mods. Monsters added by other mods join the night too, and the mod works out on its own which creatures are hostile.
- Works in single player and on multiplayer servers.
- Your companions are safe. Pets, mounts and summoned allies are never treated as monsters. If a taming mod's pets are ever mistaken for monsters, add a line like
Wolf_Black = normaltooverrides.txtin the world'smods/NoeKing_HarderNightsfolder.
