Description
Japanese Writing
Make a Japanese Writing Table which can craft Hiragana, Katakana and 250+ Kanji characters.
You can place the characters on most blocks in the game to create a wide variety of Japanese signage.
Use them to learn Japanese by naming things and places in your world.
Tooltips tell you the meaning and pronounciation of placed characters
Most N5 and N4 level Kanji's are available
Current Features:
- A craftable Japanese Writing Table from the Workbench.
- 150 hand drawn Hiragana, Katakana characters and 250+ hand drawn JLPT N5 and N4 Kanji.
- Subtle shading to show the correct stroke direction on characters
- A phonetic search feature in the crafting bench that works for most Kana. Type '_Ka' for Ka. Search for english meanings to find relevant Kanji
- A dedicated creative mode menu section
No generative AI was used for design or artwork, I used an LLM to help format the English text descriptions so they have consistent formatting across the hundreds of English tooltip descriptions.
Installation and Guide.
Place the .zip in your UserData/Mods/ folder
In exploration mode you should see the Japanese Writing Table as a craftable option from within the Workbench crafting stations menu, you'll need some bamboo wood from the Zone 4 Dino Jungle to craft the bench.
In creative mode the mod has a dedicated menu.

I reccomend you also download my 'Japanese Things' mod which will allow you to build authentic Japanese props and blocks in creative and survival mode.
