Alternative Leather is a Hytale mod that adds plant- and mushroom-based ways to obtain key crafting materials, letting you progress without relying on hunting or animal farming.

## What it does
This mod provides new processing steps through the Farmer's Workbench that allow players to obtain:

- Light Hide
- Medium Hide
- Hard Hide
- Sturdy Chitin

…using plants and shrooms as the primary ingredients! You will still need to process the hide to get leather.

## Why use it?
- Peaceful / eco-friendly progression: no need to kill or farm animals for hides.
- More playstyle freedom: supports any plant-based roleplay, or “no hunting” runs.
- Still fits survival: you’ll gather and process natural resources instead of skipping progression.

(Note: tree bark can be gathered from having any log either on your inventory or inside a nearby chest. It will automatically pick it up from the log, without the need to gather it manually.)

## Compatibility
- Should be compatible with most mods unless they heavily overwrite the same recipes/items.
- If another mod changes hide/chitin recipes, load order may affect which recipes you see.
