zTalentPlanner-0.9.7.8.zip
What's new
0.9.7.8
New features:
- Plans are checked against the current talent tree. If a plan no longer fits the tree (for example a talent now allows fewer ranks after a patch), you get a popup with the level, the tree and the talent. "Open planner" jumps straight to the order tab, where the affected step flashes red and its tooltip says how many points are too many. The check now also runs on Classic Era and Anniversary, and when you load a plan from the list.
- Plans repair themselves when possible. Points above a talent's new maximum rank are removed automatically. Talents that are no longer unlocked because of that are removed too. A popup lists what was removed and how many points are free again to redistribute.
Improvements:
- Talent changes of WoW Forever build 70425. Mage, Priest, Shaman and Warlock changed, the other classes are unchanged. If you have a plan for one of these classes, please check it, as talents at the same spot may now be different ones. The addon warns you only when a planned spot no longer exists, its requirement is no longer met or a talent has fewer ranks.
- Mage: Missile Barrage moved to the first row of Arcane and now has 2 ranks. Arcane Wrath is new (requires Missile Barrage). Critical Mass now has 5 ranks, Fire Power 3.
- Priest: Shadow Affinity and Improved Fade were removed, Dark Inspiration (Shadow, 5 ranks) is new. Discipline: Mental Strength moved up to row 2, Improved Power Word: Shield to row 3 (Soul Warding now requires it), Improved Mana Burn moved. Shadow: Improved Mind Blast moved up to row 2.
- Shaman: the Elemental tree was rearranged. Call of Thunder was removed, Elemental Mastery is new, Lava Burst no longer has a requirement, Lightning Overload now requires Elemental Alacrity, and Elemental Fury now requires Lightning Overload. Most other Elemental talents moved by a row or column. Improved Fire Nova is now called Trial by Fire. Restoration: Totemic Focus and Tidal Focus swapped places.
- Warlock: Malediction was replaced by Grim Reach (Affliction, 2 ranks).
- Windows styled like WoW Forever. The options window and the inspect window now use the bronze and gold frames, title bar and marble background of the Forever interface.
- Ability timeline tooltip tells passives from abilities. The tooltip now says whether an icon is a passive talent or an ability.
- Import asks before using an unusable learning order. If a link contains a learning order that is incomplete or breaks the talent rules, you are now asked whether to import anyway. The points are kept and the order is set automatically.
0.9.7.7
New features:
- wowforevertalent.com export (WoW Forever). Your active plan can now be exported as a wowforevertalent.com link from the export menu. The link only contains the points per talent, so the learning order is not part of it.
Improvements:
- Talents are learned during combat (WoW Forever). When you level up in a fight, the next planned talent is now learned right away, as are talents you click in the talent window, instead of waiting for the fight to end.
- Clearer chat message when you spend a talent point. The message now shows the talent's icon and reads "Talent point spent: Name (Tree), rank N" instead of "rank N learned", which looked like Blizzard's message for a new spell.
- Spell icons in the action bar update message. When new spell ranks are put on your action bars, the chat message now shows each spell's icon in front of its name.
- Wowhead imports keep the learning order. When a Wowhead link contains the order in which the talents were picked (the extra part after the talent points), the plan now follows that order instead of filling the trees from top to bottom. Works on Classic Era, Anniversary and WoW Forever. Links without that part are imported as before.
- Wowhead export keeps the learning order. Exported Wowhead links now carry the order in which you picked your talents, so Wowhead shows the same levels as the order tab in the addon instead of filling the trees from top to bottom. Works on Classic Era, Anniversary and WoW Forever.
- Wowhead export includes your "Talented" rank (WoW Forever). Exported Wowhead links now carry the rank of your Adventure legacy talent "Talented", so the calculator shows the same levels as the order tab in the addon.
Bug fixes:
- talentsforever.com links work again (WoW Forever). The site changed its link format, so pasted links were rejected as outdated and exported links could show talents at the wrong positions for some classes. Import and export use the new format. Links created before that change are still declined, open them on the site once and copy the new link from the address bar.
- Wowhead export fixed (WoW Forever). Exported Wowhead links could open an empty calculator. They now show your build again.
0.9.7.6
New features:
- chromie.de import and export (WoW Forever). Build links from the German talent calculator chromie.de can now be pasted into the planner, and your active plan can be exported as a chromie.de link from the export menu. The links only contain the points per talent, so the learning order is rebuilt automatically.
- Legacy talent "Talented" (WoW Forever). If you have ranks in the Adventure legacy talent that grants talent points earlier, the order tab, the level filter, the comparison and the ability timeline now start at your real first talent level (for example level 7 instead of 10) and follow when you change the rank.
Improvements:
- Talents tab in the inspect window (WoW Forever). When you inspect another player, a new Talents tab appears on the side of the inspect window, next to the Character and Guild tabs. Click it to show or hide that player's talent tree, which no longer covers the side tabs.
- Talent changes of WoW Forever build 70291. The Warrior trees changed. Arms: Impale now requires Deep Wounds. Fury: Lingering Rage and Furious Precision replace Iron Will and Improved Cleave, Gore Drinker is new, Boundless Rage and Precision were removed, Improved Berserker Rage and Flurry moved, and Bloodthirst no longer has a requirement. Protection: most talents moved to other rows or columns. If you have a Fury or Protection plan, please check it, as talents at the same spot may now be different ones. The addon warns you only when a planned spot no longer exists or its requirement is no longer met.
0.9.7.5
New features:
- New spell ranks go straight onto your action bars. When you learn a higher rank of a spell, for example Fireball Rank 2 from your trainer, the addon now puts the new rank on every action bar button that had your previous highest rank. At a trainer this happens once you close the trainer window, so all newly learned ranks are updated in one go. If you deliberately keep a lower rank on a button (for example a cheaper heal), that button is left alone. With dual specialization, the bars of your other specialization get the new rank the next time you switch to it. Works on Classic Era, Anniversary and WoW Forever, including stance and form bars and bar addons such as Bartender or ElvUI. During a fight the update waits until the fight is over. You can turn it off with
/tplan ranks off. - Ability timeline in the all-trees view. Below the three talent trees, a level ruler now shows at which level your active plan unlocks each new ability (for example Ice Block). A gold marker shows your current level, and each icon gets a gold frame once you have reached its level. Hover an icon for the ability name and level, click it to jump to the talent in the tree. Passive talents appear as smaller round icons, further ranks of a talent are not shown.
- Quick toggles in the talent window. Planning mode and automatic talent learning can now be switched on and off with two small icons next to the available points, without opening the planner window.
- Shine on the talent frames. A soft glint now sweeps across the frames of your talents, as in the modern WoW talent window. It shows on learned and maxed talents and on talents you can't learn right now because a requirement is missing. It stays off for talents you can learn right away and for talents whose tier is still locked. In planning mode, every talent that is still open for planning shines as long as you have unplanned points left; once the plan is full, only the planned talents do. It works in the addon's own talent window and in Blizzard's original one. You can turn it off with the new "No shine effect" checkbox in the planner window. With GW2_UI the shine is always off and the checkbox is locked.
- Requirements light up when they are met. When you meet a talent's requirement, either by planning the last point in planning mode or by learning it, a light dot now travels along the arrow to the talent. The talent stays greyed out until the dot arrives, then its frame flashes. Works in the addon's own window, Blizzard's original window and DragonflightUI, and follows the same checkbox.
- The tree with the most points stands out. In the talent window, the tree with the most points (in planning mode: the most planned points) now gets a lighter frame with a soft glow. With a tie, or while no points are spent, nothing is highlighted.
- Korean translation. The addon is now available in Korean, thanks to user_y0m9hsti2anxq56l. The messages of the new action bar rank update still appear in English for now.
Improvements:
- Planning mode greys out talents whose requirement is not planned yet. Until the required talent is planned to its maximum rank, a talent now looks greyed out and shows no rank badge, just like in the normal view. The arrow shows the same state.
- Cleaner tree titles in the all-trees view. The point count next to a tree's name now only appears once the tree has points.
- Talent changes of WoW Forever build 70235. The Druid Feral tree changed: King of the Jungle was removed, Shredding Attacks and Predatory Instincts moved, and Shifting Power and Improved Shifting Power are new. If your plan contains one of these talents, the addon warns you and shows the affected steps on the "Order" tab.
Bug fixes:
- Cleaner talent tooltips in French and Korean. Talent tooltips no longer show an empty "Requires" line, a talent you already planned no longer shows its requirement in red, and the warning about missing points in a tree now appears right below the talent's requirement. This already worked in English and German.
0.9.7.4
Bug fixes:
- Auto-apply works again on WoW Forever when you level up. Instead of learning the next planned talent, the addon sometimes reported "No free talent points available", because the game had not yet registered the new point at the moment you leveled up. The addon now waits a moment for the point and then learns the talent as planned.
0.9.7.3
Improvements:
- Less clutter in the plan list. The "In use by" tooltip now only appears when other characters use a plan, and lists only those characters. That your current character uses a plan is already shown by the highlight in the list.
Bug fixes:
- WoW Forever characters keep their own plans and settings. Characters with a first and last name were sometimes stored under just their first name or as "Unknown". Characters could then show another character's active plan, and the "In use by" tooltip listed characters that weren't really using the plan. Each character is now stored under its full name, and the addon cleans up the old entries the next time that character logs in. Your plans are not affected, but on each character you may need to choose the active plan and your settings (such as auto-apply) once more. A new character's first plan is also named with its full name, and so is a build you copy from another player, so two players with the same first name no longer end up in the same plan.
0.9.7.2
Improvements:
- Warning when a WoW Forever plan no longer fits the talent tree. Beta updates can remove talents or change their requirements. If your active plan is affected, the addon now tells you once in chat, marks the affected step in red on the "Order" tab (with the reason in the tooltip), pauses auto-apply and asks before "Apply Next" or "Apply All". Steps for a talent that no longer exists can be removed by right-clicking its card on the "Order" tab.
Bug fixes:
- WoW Forever talent trees updated for the September 24 beta update. Talent tree previews and exported build links for other classes now match the current trees: Improved Holy Strike and Crusade are gone from the Paladin trees, Elemental Fury and Elemental Alacrity have swapped places in the Elemental Shaman tree, and two Feral Druid talents show their new names (Primal Bite, Blood Frenzy). Plans built with the old trees are flagged by the new warning above. If you had planned Elemental Fury in the Elemental Shaman tree, check that step, because a plan with up to 3 points there now counts as Elemental Alacrity.
0.9.7.1
New features:
- Inspecting other players on WoW Forever. When you inspect someone, their talent tree now opens next to the inspect window, with their points filled in, and a "Copy" button saves the build as a plan under their class. Nothing is saved just from looking.
- WoW Forever talent window. On the WoW Forever client the addon's own talent window takes over the talent tab: it shows all three trees with the live ranks from the game, marks your planned points and the next step to learn, and applies points from your plan. Learned points are only reported once the game confirms them, and the window follows along when you switch specialization. Points you apply during a fight are spent the moment the fight ends, including the point from a level-up in the middle of a fight. Talent trees of other classes come straight from the game's data, with tree names and icons in your language.
- WoW Forever build import. On the WoW Forever client, build links from Wowhead, Warcrafttavern, Icy Veins, talentsforever.com and wowforevertalent.com are imported onto the real in-game talent tree, so you can plan and apply them just like on Classic. Links from outdated calculator versions (old talentsforever.com links, wowforevertalent.com links made with the BlizzCon preview trees) are rejected with an explanation.
Improvements:
- "Click to learn" in talent tooltips. Outside planning mode, talent tooltips now show Blizzard's green "Click to learn" line whenever you can learn that talent right now, just like the default talent window.
- Clear reasons when a talent can't be learned. Clicking a talent in the addon's own talent window now tells you why it can't be learned: it is already maxed, the tree needs more points for that tier, a prerequisite talent isn't fully learned yet, or you have no free talent points. Previously the click simply did nothing, or showed a vague "can't be changed right now".
- Same wording as the game. Role names, the "Info" and options buttons and the level-up banner now use the game's own texts, so they match the rest of the interface in every language (for example, the German roles are now "Schutz", "Heilung" and "Schaden", as in the Dungeon Finder).
Bug fixes:
- Talent search. The search tab now finds talents from all three trees right away, instead of only from trees you had already opened in the talent window.
- Learning talents in the own talent window. Clicking a talent in the addon's own talent window learns it again, as in the default talent window.
0.9.7
New features:
- Custom talent window. Use the optional built-in talent window to plan your current character, browse talent trees for other classes, switch between specializations, and compare builds.
- GW2_UI compatibility. zTalentPlanner now works directly inside GW2_UI's talent window, including planning highlights and a dedicated "Planner" button. The planner and talent-tree windows also match the GW2_UI style.
- ElvUI skin. When ElvUI's Blizzard-frame skin is enabled, zTalentPlanner's windows automatically adopt the ElvUI look.
Improvements:
- Next-step highlight. The marker for the next talent to learn now uses the golden animated proc glow (the one action bars show on a spell proc) around the talent icon. When the next step is in a talent tree you're not currently viewing, its tab now also shows a bouncing arrow in addition to the pulsing highlight.
0.9.6.2
Bug fixes:
- Inspect-copy learning order fixed. Copying another player's build from the inspect window now puts it into a valid learning order (same fix as for imported builds), instead of ignoring prerequisites in the same tier.
0.9.6.1
New features:
- Level-up milestones. Reaching a level that unlocks a new capability now shows a milestone toast alongside the level-up display. Version- and class-aware:
- Riding/flying: normal and fast riding (level 30/60 on TBC, 40/60 on Era), flying (level 70, TBC only), shown with the actual riding-skill icon. Warlocks and paladins see their class mount's icon on the riding toast.
- Level 40: dual specialization and armor proficiency (mail/plate).
- Class unlocks:
- Mage: teleports and portals per tier.
- Warlock: demon summoning quests (voidwalker at 10, succubus at 20, felhunter at 30; the imp is available before level 10 and is not shown), inferno (quest at 50), and the class mount quests (felsteed at 30 on TBC / 40 on Era, dreadsteed at 60).
- Paladin: class mount quests (warhorse at 30 on TBC / 40 on Era, charger at 60), shown in addition to the generic riding toast.
- Rogue: pick lock (trained at 16) and poisons (quest at 20).
- Warrior: defensive stance (quest at 10) and berserker stance (quest at 30).
- Hunter: aspect of the cheetah (trained at 20) and feign death (trained at 30).
- Shaman: elemental totem quests (fire at 10, water at 20, air at 30; the earth totem is available before level 10 and is not shown).
- Druid: shapeshift forms (bear/aquatic/cat via quest at 10/16/20, travel and dire bear trained at 30/40, flight form trained at 68, swift flight form via quest at 70 in TBC).
- The toast distinguishes unlocked features (lock badge, "milestone reached"), abilities you still have to train (book badge, "now learnable"), and quest-gated unlocks like the warlock demons (book badge, "quest available").
0.9.6
Bug fixes:
- Group role no longer overrides manual changes. The plan's role is now applied only when you actually join a group (solo → group). Changing your role by hand within a group is preserved and no longer forced back on every roster update or after a /reload.
- Import learning order fixed. Imported builds are now put into a valid learning order even when a talent requires another talent in the same tier (e.g. Paladin Protection tier 7), instead of being rejected as invalid.
- Error messages moved to chat. Errors now print into the chat frame (in red) instead of the center-screen UI error area, so long messages (like import errors with level and reason) stay fully readable. The error sound is kept.
