YDie: Hardcore Death Analytics
Built for those who are sick of dying over and over again!
A death tracker and near miss recorder for WoW Classic Hardcore. It logs every death and every close call, asks what went wrong while the memory is fresh, and builds a risk profile from your own history.
Every Hardcore death has a cause. Most players move on without finding it. Hardcore Analytics treats each death as an incident worth reviewing: it captures what happened automatically, asks you a short set of questions, and builds a picture over time of where and why your characters die.
It is built on the same approach used in professional risk management and post-incident review. One death is an anecdote but ten deaths are a pattern.
Other addons show you the deaths. This one asks why they happened, and it is the only one that records the fights you survived.
Near misses: the deaths that almost happened
Most of what there is to learn never shows up in a death log, because you lived through it.
The addon silently records any fight where your health fell to a low point or dropped sharply in a few seconds and you came out alive. Nothing pops up mid-combat, because a window appearing while a patrol is still nearby is its own hazard. The record waits in an inbox and you write it up later, when it suits you.
Over a few levels this becomes the most useful data the addon holds. Deaths tell you how a character ended. Near misses tell you how close the other ones came.
What it captures
Automatic death records. When you die, the addon saves the killer and the killing blow, every attacker with its damage and level, the final hits leading up to the death, fight length, and damage taken. It also records where you were, your level and XP, whether you were grouped or rested, how long you had played, and how long the session had run.
A character snapshot at the moment of death. Gear and durability, talents, professions, buffs and debuffs, full stats, and what was in your bags: healing potions, bandages, target dummies, explosives, scrolls, and whether each was on cooldown.
What it does with it
A post-death questionnaire. Three short pages: the cause, how avoidable it was, the context, contributing factors, and what you would do differently. There is no auto-skip timer, so a bathroom break never costs you the write-up. If you skip it, the addon reminds you next time you log in.
The Death Fingerprint. Each death is classified automatically by risk type, activity, how the fight went, what resources you had, and whether escape was possible. For example, "Double Pull, had resources" or "Environmental while traveling (Fall Damage)".
A Risk Profile. Compares where you are now against your own history: zones and levels that have killed you before, killers that keep recurring, and how your pace changes as a character gets older.
Proactive alerts. Enter a zone or reach a level that has been dangerous for you before and you get a short warning, in chat, on screen, or both. All of it can be switched off.
Your data, your analysis
Export every death and near miss as CSV, TSV, or JSON from the options panel. The full records are there for spreadsheets or your own analysis. Nothing is ever sent anywhere. All data stays in your SavedVariables.
The addon only records Hardcore characters by default, so a level 60 on a normal realm does not pollute your dataset. You can change this per realm.
Death and near miss history is kept across characters and survives addon updates, so the archive outlives the character that made it.
