Ever wished you could open your bags, check a quest, or browse your spells without covering up the game?
That’s the idea behind WoWU.
WoWU puts the everyday parts of World of Warcraft onto a separate touchscreen, keeping Azeroth on your main monitor and your bags, maps, quests, and shortcuts within reach.
It’s made for players who enjoy using a controller, own a touchscreen handheld, or simply fancy a different way to play WoW.
Give your handheld something new to do
Have a Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, ASUS ROG Ally, or a similar device? Put its touchscreen to work as your WoW companion.
You can also use an Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad. Most touchscreen devices supported by Moonlight can join in, provided their Moonlight client supports touch input.
Your Windows PC runs the game. Your handheld becomes the companion screen.
Keep the world in view
Follow your quests, browse your inventory, compare equipment, and swipe through your spellbook—all from the touchscreen.
Visit a merchant, check your bank, work on your professions, or find your next destination through familiar Warcraft-style windows designed around tapping and scrolling.
Build a dashboard that suits you, with movable widgets for your minimap, tracked quests, favourite shortcuts, and more.
Settle in with a controller
WoWU brings controller-friendly controls and a customizable button display to supported clients. Arrange it how you like, choose a compact layout, and keep your favourite abilities close at hand.
It’s about making controller play feel more comfortable, with less reaching for the mouse whenever you need to manage something.
When you want your usual setup back, switch off Gamepad Mode.
Getting started
You’ll need the WoWU addon, the WoWU Gamepad Assistant for Windows, and Moonlight on your companion device.
- Install the addon for your WoW client.
- Download and install the WoWU Gamepad Assistant.
- Start the Assistant, enter WoW, and press Gamepad Mode.
- Setup Moonlight, and in options set the resolution to 1280x800, and prioritize mouse input.
- With Moonlight open, click WoWU Gamepad and you're ready to go!
The Assistant takes care of the companion display and streaming setup behind the scenes.

Which WoW can I use it with?
WoWU supports Retail, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Classic Era, and Forever, with additional compatibility work for other Classic versions. Features vary between clients, and Forever uses its own native controller controls.
WoWU is still in beta and growing with player feedback. If something doesn’t behave as expected, let us know which WoW version you’re using and what happened.
