World Buff Watch v1.9.49
What's new
MissionAccomplished 1.9.49
Noctis Guides now shows elite threats and silver rare discoveries on the world map and minimap when they are observed. This release targets WoW Classic Era 1.15.9 (Interface 11509). Update Core, Suite and your installed modules together; all thirteen packages share this version.
Noctis Guides
- Living hostile elites, rare creatures, rare elites and supported area threats are detected automatically through mouseover, target and nameplate sightings. Elites use a red warning marker; rares use the silver dragon marker. A rare elite shares one sighting with silver artwork and a red danger halo.
- World-map and minimap glyphs are compact, at 12 UI pixels across, with a subtle 18-pixel halo for rare elites. The world-map marker uses a small backing for readability.
- Compact world-map sightings stay visible above the native player arrow without changing their approximate location.
- Markers pulse while refreshed by native sightings. A lost sighting becomes steady and faded, then expires sixty seconds after its last confirmation. Confirmed death, friendly or classification changes, and map-area or instance changes clear obsolete sightings.
- These sightings use a fixed approximate area around the player's observation location because Classic Era does not expose a reliable NPC map position. Tooltips identify the creature, classification, sighting age and approximate location. The marker is not a live tracker of an unseen creature.
- World-map and minimap markers have separate per-character settings in the Suite settings panel and Noctis minimap settings. Existing warning, rare discovery, animation and map visibility controls also apply.
- Records and frames are bounded and reused. Sighting markers do not change quest progress, accept quests, or broadcast player sightings.
Companion packages
Core includes the new map preferences. The other eleven packages are version-aligned companions with their existing runtime behavior. Installer dependency relations and Classic Era compatibility remain unchanged.
Verification
The full Noctis Guides suite passed 10,046 LuaUnit test executions and 212 route-document assertions across Elune and PUC Lua 5.1, with zero failures. Core passed 1,022 test executions. After the final size and drawing-layer adjustments, all 36 sighting-marker tests and all 30 world-map adapter tests passed on each runtime, and all 143 Guides runtime files compiled on both runtimes. Existing whole-file lint and formatting findings are documented in the local verification reports.
Authorized in-game reloads checked module loading, event registration, settings entries and the production map renderer using clearly labeled temporary previews. Final compact elite and rare-elite markers and their tooltips were checked on the world map and minimap. The previews preserved quest progress, restored the original map preferences and added no recorded addon errors. Native detection and renderer state have automated coverage; genuine elite or rare encounters and actual combat-lockdown frame creation remain unverified in game.
Local verification and release evidence are recorded in reports/sighting-map-markers-20261005 and reports/ship-sighting-markers-20261005.
