# WhisperTabs

**WhisperTabs** is a lightweight, modern World of Warcraft addon designed to transform the way you manage private messages. Instead of cluttered chat frames or missing whispers in the middle of combat, WhisperTabs automatically organizes your whispers into dedicated, class-colored tabs with instant notification alerts and quick controls.

* **Dedicated Whisper Tabs:** Automatically routes incoming and outgoing whispers (including Battle.net) into their own organized tabs.
* **Class Colored Names:** Tab titles are dynamically colored based on the player's class for instant visual recognition.
* **Unread Message Counter:** Shows an unread message badge (e.g. `[Player (3)]`) next to the contact's name, resetting automatically once opened.
* **Flashing Tab Alerts:** Distinct pulsing animation on unread tabs so you never miss an important message.
* **One-Click Close Button:** Every tab features an integrated `[x]` button to quickly dismiss conversation windows without digging through context menus.
* **Seamless Target Sync:** Switching to a whisper tab instantly synchronizes your chat edit box, ensuring your replies always go to the correct person when pressing Enter.
* **Instance & Combat DND Mode:** Prevents audio distractions by automatically muting whisper sound alerts during combat, Mythic+ dungeons, raids, and PvP arenas.
* **Custom Alert Sounds:** Choose from a curated selection of alert sound effects using `/wt sound`.

### ⌨️ Slash Commands

Use `/wt` or `/whispertabs` in-game to configure your preferences:

* `/wt` — Displays the command overview and help list.
* `/wt sound` — Opens the sound selection list and shows your active alert sound.
* `/wt sound <number>` — Sets your preferred whisper sound and plays an instant preview (e.g., `/wt sound 2`).
* `/wt dnd` — Toggles mute mode inside instances (Dungeons, Raids, Mythic+, Delves, Arenas).
* `/wt combat` — Toggles mute mode while in active combat.

### ⚙️ Installation

1. Download the latest version of **WhisperTabs**.
2. Extract the `WhisperTabs` folder into your World of Warcraft directory:  
   `World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\`
3. Restart or reload the game (`/reload`).
