Version 4.0.0 Blockcraft: one game, a bigger world, and a real lobby

Whely's World is now Blockcraft, a multiplayer Minecraft-style voxel game inside World of Warcraft. Every other world, tool and menu is gone; the add-on is roughly half its former size and the interface is built around the one game.

• A 256 x 256 block world, four times the old island, generated from a seed so everyone sees the same land. Biomes (plains, forest, desert, snow, mountains, rivers, beaches, ocean), caves and ravines, coal, iron, gold and diamond veins, and lava deep down.
• Survival and creative. Tool tiers (wood, stone, iron, diamond) with durability, armor, hunger and food, a real furnace, farming, crafting on a 2x2 and 3x3 grid, drowning, fall, lava and cactus damage, death drops, beds, doors, chests, ladders and torches. Creepers, skeletons, zombies and farm animals.
• A lobby for the host: invite from nearby, party, friends, guild and recent players; see who is in the world with their latency; kick, ban (kept per host character, with an unban list) and lock the room.
• Chat that holds up: long lines are split rather than cut, whispers reply with /r, and join, leave and kick notices are plain system lines.
• A Blockcraft menu: pause menu, options (graphics presets, field of view, view distance, camera and sound) and a controls page, all about this game.
• Removed: the world list, chess, Lumbridge, Elwynn, the park, class mobility spells, emotes, the soundboard, item spawning, housing decor, the action bar and the character picker. Settings from older versions load and are ignored.
• Rooms from older versions cannot be joined: the network protocol changed.

Not verified in the WoW client by the author's tooling: how the new panels and the larger world look and perform. The automated suite covers logic against a stub client only.

Blockcraft

Mine, craft and build with friends in a block world inside WoW. A world holds up to 8 players including the host. The host sends invitations and sets the rules; guests accept an invitation and play in that world.

Install

Use the Blockcraft page on CurseForge (the project that used to be Whely's World) or download the packaged ZIP from its Files tab and extract the Blockcraft folder into World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/. Everyone in a world needs the same release. An old WhelysWorld or VRChat folder should be removed.

First session

1. Log in to Retail WoW and type /blockcraft (or /bc, /ww), or use the add-on compartment at the minimap.
2. Play solo, or Play with friends to open the lobby and invite people.
3. Press Escape for the pause menu: Lobby, World Options (host), Options, Controls & Commands.

Playing

• Hold left-click to mine or attack, right-click to place or use, 1-9 pick from the hotbar, B opens inventory and crafting, Tab the player list, G tosses the held item, F3 debug, Ctrl sprints, Shift sneaks.
• Host world options (Escape, World Options): survival or creative, day cycle, PvP, creeper block damage, kill mobs, reset or new world.
• Commands: /blocks help lists the game commands; /lobby, /invite [name], /kick name, /ban name, /unban name, /bans, /lock, /unlock manage the lobby (host only); /w name and /r whisper; /fly, /music, /unstuck.
