What Killed Me?
Understand what happened before your death and which defensive abilities you could potentially have used.
What Killed Me? combines available Death Recap data with recorded ability uses and cooldown estimates to create a compact post-death report. It supports all 13 classes and automatically selects an ability profile for your specialization.
Personal Death Reports
The report appears after the release-spirit option becomes available, with a short delay to collect additional data.
Each report can show:
- The finishing hit, its source and damage, when confirmed by available data.
- Up to 10 recent damage events, with ability icons, tooltips and available health information.
- Tracked defensive and healing abilities, their cooldown status and estimated remaining cooldown.
- Cast time compared with the interval between the last recorded damage events.
- How many times each tracked ability was used during the fight.
- Supported consumables found in your bags and their cooldown status.
Your last 5 personal deaths are saved with timestamps for easy browsing.
Choose What to Track
Use the Tracking tab to select which available abilities appear in your death reports.
The addon automatically refreshes character information when you log in or change specialization or talents. You can also refresh it manually.
Supported consumables include Healthstones, Demonic Healthstones and both ranks of Silvermoon Health Potion.
Group and Raid Reports
Players with the addon installed can automatically send their death reports to a recipient in the current party or raid.
- The group or raid leader is the default recipient.
- Another current group member can be selected from the recipient dropdown.
- Reports are grouped by combat session.
- Player sections can be expanded individually or collapsed together.
- Expanded reports include tracked abilities and recorded incoming damage.
- Receiving a report does not automatically open the group window.
The addon stores up to 20 group combat sessions, with up to 200 death reports per session.
Every player uses the same addon—there is no separate leader edition.
Languages
The interface is available in:
- English
- Russian
- Ukrainian
Select your preferred language in the Tracking tab. The addon offers an interface reload to apply the change.
Known labels and statuses in received group reports are translated into the recipient’s selected interface language. Spell and item names are resolved by ID using the recipient’s game client language when available.
Player names, NPC names and unrecognized text may remain in their original language. Exports preserve the original received data.
Cooldown Estimates
WoW may restrict access to combat information. When readable cooldown data is unavailable, the addon can estimate readiness using saved ability parameters and observed casts.
The calculation model assumes tracked abilities are ready at the start of combat, then updates its estimates as abilities are used.
These estimates may differ from actual cooldowns because of resets, cooldown reductions, temporary effects or unavailable data. Estimated results are marked accordingly.
An ability being ready does not mean it would have saved you. The report does not fully account for resources, movement, crowd control, targeting, the global cooldown or reaction time. Cast-time comparisons use the available recorded damage events, which may be incomplete.
Export and Diagnostics
Personal reports and group combat sessions can be exported for troubleshooting.
For a bug report, include:
- The relevant export as a text file.
- Your addon and game client versions.
- A short description of what happened.
- Whether spirit form, resurrection or an interface reload occurred.
For group-report issues, include the sender’s personal export and the recipient’s group export when possible.
Controls
- Left-click the minimap icon: open or close your personal report.
- Right-click the minimap icon: open or close group reports.
- Drag the minimap icon: reposition it.
/wkm group: open group reports./wkm details: view detailed diagnostics.
Data Sharing
Group reports are exchanged through in-game addon messages. No external translation service or reporting server is used.
When Марлая-Гордунни, the developer’s character, is in your current party or raid, that character also receives group death reports for debugging.
Exports may contain character names, realms, identifiers, talent information and combat records. Review them before sharing publicly.
Found an Incorrect Calculation?
If an ability, cooldown, charge count or another value appears incorrect, please use the Export button and send the complete exported data to the support chat, preferably as a .txt file.
Briefly explain what looks wrong and what you expected to see. The export helps the developer investigate the calculation and fix errors. A screenshot alone may not contain enough information.
