What's new

Changelog

1.5.0

Fixed

  • Guild Leagues, 1v1 Challenges, Spectator Mode, stats sharing and whisper invites work again. Their messages were being rejected by other players' clients since 1.3.0, so none of these features could actually be used.
  • The Social panel and Audit viewer can now be opened: /vsg social, /vsg audit, and /vsg challenge accept|decline <name> (or /vsg challenge to list pending challenges).
  • Every slash command that prints a message works again. A load-order issue meant commands like /vsg help, /vsg start and /vsg stats could error instead of responding.
  • Games with roughly 13 or more players (or lotteries with many ticket buyers) now sync to everyone. Large game-state messages were being split into pieces too big for the game client to send.
  • Blackjack, Double or Nothing, Hot Potato, Roulette, Over/Under and Streak Bet can be played for more than one round. Under the default "players rejoin each round" setting they jumped straight into a round nobody could join, and Blackjack without a playing host raised an error.
  • Non-host players no longer resolve rounds on their own. A roll relayed by another player could make a non-host client announce a duplicate result and record its own ledger entries.
  • A player who accepts a host transfer can start the next round. Previously the promoted host hit an error on "New round".
  • Handing off host during a countdown is no longer allowed, and a host who hands off mid-game no longer keeps running the countdown or auto-continue timers.
  • Tournament announcements and brackets are only accepted from the tournament host.
  • Over/Under no longer announces or whispers a bogus "X owes Y" line; players settle with the host individually as before.
  • Elimination no longer charges eliminated players their bounty on top of the full buy-in.
  • A free Deathroll (wager 0) no longer records a 1000g debt.
  • Kicking a Lottery player before the draw refunds their tickets in the ledger.
  • Reduced Motion no longer breaks the Roll button and the active-player glow.
  • Settings profiles now save and restore all five bet limits. Daily cap, session cap and cooldown were silently dropped.
  • The Settings tab no longer goes blank once a profile has been saved.
  • Game history no longer loses rounds when you take a portal or zone during a session.
  • /vsg reset fully re-initialises saved data. Previously wagered games and bet limits errored until a /reload.
  • Elimination placement text says 11th, 12th, 13th and 21st correctly.
  • A host who reloads or crashes and starts a new game is followed by the other players immediately instead of being ignored for 90 seconds.
  • Players who joined during a host handoff now learn who the new host is, instead of staying attached to the old one until the session times out.
  • After a tie re-roll, relayed rolls are no longer rejected as stale for the rest of the session.
  • A random nearby /roll no longer flips a non-host's window into the rolling state while the game is still open.
  • Addon traffic now respects the game client's message budget and pauses cleanly while Blizzard's chat lockdown is active (encounters, Mythic+, PvP) instead of dropping messages. The host is no longer rate-limited by other players' clients in large games.
  • Ending a game cancels any pending host offer on both sides.
  • Partial debt payments through the trade window are recorded instead of lost. The ledger no longer deletes unpaid debts when it fills up.
  • Guild league results correctly credit the actual winner and loser in games with more than two players, and match players across realms.
  • Spectator mode responds to watch requests while a game is running. It previously denied every request.
  • Fourteen translated strings had their placeholders in the wrong order and could error when shown. All seven translations now cover every chat line the addon can broadcast, plus the host transfer, bet limit, onboarding and web sync text that was English-only.
  • All game modes now honour the broadcast-language setting for their chat announcements; Blackjack, Roulette, Over/Under, Hot Potato, Streak Bet and Double or Nothing were English-only.
  • Player names, rolls and status in the player list no longer wrap onto the next row.
  • The minimap button is also available from the addon compartment.

Changed

  • Two large UI builders were restructured to stay clear of a Lua limit that would otherwise silently break the window when a new element is added. An automated check now guards this in CI.
  • Malformed addon messages from other players are ignored instead of raising an error.

1.4.8

Changed

  • Retail only from now on. The Mists of Pandaria Classic and Classic Era packages are discontinued because they can no longer be tested. Retail (12.1.0) is unaffected.

1.4.7

Changed

  • All outgoing chat (announcements, whispers, history sharing) now goes through a single helper that prefers the modern chat API. No behaviour change in game.
  • Releases are now published to GitHub Releases and Wago Addons in addition to CurseForge.

1.4.6

Changed

  • Updated for WoW 12.1.0 (Interface 120100). The Classic Era TOC now targets 1.15.9.
  • The Cataclysm Classic TOC is now a Mists of Pandaria Classic TOC (VoidstormGamba_Mists.toc, Interface 50504), since Cata Classic has progressed to MoP.
  • Both Classic TOCs now load the same files as Retail. They were missing the mirror-sync, mode-resolver and Poker UI modules split out in April, plus the translated locales, so Classic builds could not have loaded correctly.

Fixed

  • Right-clicking the minimap button with saved presets works again on Retail. The menu relied on EasyMenu, which Blizzard removed in 11.0, so it silently errored instead of opening. Classic clients keep the legacy dropdown.
  • Added a fallback so chat announcements keep working if Blizzard removes the deprecated global SendChatMessage.

1.4.5

Security

  • Closed a hole where another guildmate could quietly take over an active game in your view by impersonating the host. Game updates are now only accepted from the real host while their game is still running.
  • Tightened up host transfers: they now only complete if the named new host actually had a pending offer, so a forged "I accepted" message can't slip through.
  • Host transfers can no longer name someone who isn't actually in the game. Previously a tampered message could promote any guildmate.
  • Only players in the current game can forward roll results now. Outsiders can't relay or fabricate rolls anymore.
  • Tournament keywords can no longer contain ~. That character has special meaning to the addon's networking and would corrupt the roster on other players' clients. Regular games already had this restriction.
  • Rematch invitations now respect your bet limits the same way fresh challenges do, so someone can't push an out-of-bounds wager into your incoming list.
  • Closed a denial-of-service hole where an attacker could spam partial messages forever without hitting the rate limit. Each piece now counts toward the limit, and we don't waste memory holding fragments for messages we don't even handle.
  • A bug in any single network message handler can no longer crash the whole message-handling loop and leave a game half-broken. Errors are now caught and logged.

Fixed

  • The "Show beta game modes" setting now also applies to the tournament dropdown. Beta modes were leaking through there even when hidden everywhere else.
  • Blackjack now stays in sync for everyone at the table. Non-host players can finally see whose turn it is, current hand totals, and who's stood or busted in real time. Before this, only the first player saw their turn correctly, the roll button could stick on "Rolled" after a hit, and the host could double-count a roll.
  • When host swaps mid-game, the windows now switch automatically. The new host gets the full game UI and the old host gets the joiner view. No more manually closing and reopening /vsg.
  • If host transfers during a tie reroll, the 3-attempt cap still applies. Previously it could reset on host change.
  • A new host accepting a transfer mid-game now properly restarts the broadcast and all the gameplay timers (roll reminders, AFK kicks, pick deadlines). Previously they'd run with no timers and clients would time them out about 90 seconds later.
  • Fixed a rare blackjack bug where standing and busting at the same time on the last hand could trigger the payout twice.
  • A corrupted saved-variables file with a bad UI scale value (zero, negative, or non-numeric) no longer makes the addon UI disappear. Bad values are clamped to a sensible range.
  • The History tab's debt ledger now refreshes the instant you settle a debt by trade. Before, the paid debt would still appear in the list until you switched tabs or reloaded.
  • Long Poker network messages that have to be split across multiple addon-message packets now get delivered correctly. They were being silently dropped after the chunk DoS protection was added in this release.
  • Incoming 1v1 challenges no longer error out or silently decline when you're on default bet limits. Anyone with limits left off (the default since 1.4.1) was unintentionally rejecting every wagered challenge, and fresh installs could throw an error.

1.4.4

Added

  • Host transfers now require the target player's consent. Hosts get a "host" button on every player row in the Active Game tab. Clicking it sends an offer that the target can accept or decline, and the transfer only goes through if they accept. The offer auto-cancels after 30 seconds, and the host can rescind it at any time. Previously the host could change without the new host's say-so.

Changed

  • Game keywords and leave-keywords can no longer contain ~. That character has special meaning to the addon's networking and would corrupt other players' view of your game.

1.4.3

Fixed

  • Session saving no longer errors out after the WoW 12.0.5 update.
  • When a host logs off or disconnects, the stuck session now closes automatically after about 90 seconds instead of keeping the old game visible forever.
  • The version number shown in the addon header stays accurate even if CurseForge's packaging pipeline doesn't substitute it for any reason.

1.4.2

Fixed

  • The History tab's mode summary no longer cuts names short ("Deathro" → "Deathroll") or runs off the side of the window. Modes you've never played are hidden so the bar stays tidy.
  • The version shown in the addon's header now updates with each release instead of being stuck on the old one.

Changed

  • Marked compatible with WoW patch 12.0.5.

1.4.1

Changed

  • Bet limits are off by default. Previous versions silently enforced a 10g minimum, 50,000g maximum, 500,000g daily cap, 200,000g per-session cap, and 5-second cooldown between games — most players never chose those, they just inherited them. All five are now disabled out of the box. Existing installs will migrate to disabled automatically on next login.

Added

  • New Bet Limits settings section lets you re-enable any of the five guardrails — minimum bet, maximum bet, daily cap, session cap, and cooldown — if you want them back. Leave any field at 0 to keep that limit disabled. A "Turn All Limits Off" button resets them in one click.

1.4.0

Added

  • Broadcast languages: Choose which language the addon's in-character chat messages are sent in, independent of your WoW client language. All 8 supported languages — English, German, French, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Chinese (Simplified), and Korean — can now be picked as your broadcast language.
  • Friendly language names in the broadcast-language dropdown (e.g. "English", "Deutsch", "Français") instead of codes like "enUS" or "frFR".

Fixed

  • English is now always available as a fallback, no matter which broadcast language you pick.
  • Removed duplicate entries that could appear in the broadcast-language list.
  • Russian, Chinese, and Korean appear in English in the dropdown to avoid unreadable boxes on clients that don't have those fonts installed.

1.3.1

Fixed

  • Party and raid game joins now work again — players who joined a host's game weren't appearing on the host's roster.
  • Fixed a load-time error caused by an outdated random-seed call that's no longer supported by WoW.
  • Fixed a broken Guide panel that was causing errors when opening an active game.
  • Fixed a Chinese (zhCN) locale load failure caused by a few mistyped strings.

1.3.0

Added

  • Accessibility
    • New High Visibility and High Contrast themes.
    • Adjustable text scale for the whole addon.
    • Color-independent icons for wins, losses, and status (for colorblind players).
    • Reduced motion option that tones down animations and toasts.
  • Settings Profiles: save, load, and delete named settings profiles. New /vsg profile commands.
  • Classic WoW support: now runs on Cataclysm Classic, Classic Era, and Season of Discovery alongside Retail.
  • Spectator Effects toggle: choose whether screen-wide win effects show for spectators or only participants.
  • Protocol versioning: outgoing addon messages now include a protocol version so mismatched addon versions can be detected.
  • Automated test suite: CI-backed tests for chat parsing, bet limits, signing, poker hands, mode registry, localization, and core game state.
  • README with full feature list, commands, and contributor guide.

Changed

  • Security hardening across the addon:
    • Each game session uses its own signing secret instead of a shared one.
    • Hosts read rolls directly from chat now, instead of trusting roll messages forwarded by other clients.
    • Tightened up which players are allowed to send game, league, and challenge messages.
    • Added a per-sender rate limit on incoming addon messages to block spam.
    • Saved settings are validated on login so a corrupted file can't crash the addon.
    • Stronger randomness for poker deck shuffles and session signing.
  • Performance: smoother poker timers and faster gold formatting on large numbers.
  • Refactored the game engine, poker UI, and settings tab into smaller modules for easier maintenance.
  • Bet limits (daily cap, session cap, cooldown) are now enforced when creating and locking games.

Fixed

  • Dozens of crash and nil-reference fixes across poker, challenges, lotteries, elimination mode, tournaments, profiles, leagues, the ledger, and session tracking.
  • Fixed several cases where games could get stuck in a "resolving" state.
  • Fixed missing translations and a handful of hardcoded English strings.
  • Countdown roll button no longer appears for non-participants, and screen flashes no longer trigger for spectators.
  • Mirror clients no longer process rolls during the countdown.
