Changelog
v2.31.0
- New "Debuffs On You" group: important boss debuffs, crowd control, and dispellable effects on your character, shown as icons or bars with timers - built to keep working under Midnight's combat restrictions. Private aura slots for encounter mechanics are included.
- The editor has been redesigned around a single settings panel: every option lives in one always-visible window with real sliders and switches and explanations under each setting, organized into Editing, Appearance, Alerts, Visibility, Profiles, and Recovery sections.
- New default font: IBM Plex Mono, with the previous font still available in the font picker.
- Cooldowns now pop the moment they finish, and buff/debuff bars glow warm in their final seconds. Toggle in the Alerts section.
- New display option for ability groups: "Collapse" hides icons while they're on cooldown and packs the row, so what's visible is what's ready.
- Two built-in themes - Vigil and Classic - switch the HUD's look in one click.
- Empowered casts (Evoker) now hold the bar while you hold the spell at max stage, and stage markers sit at the real stage thresholds.
- DoTs no longer vanish when you swap targets mid-fight: swap back and the timer picks up where it left off. DoT and buff bar timers also match the server exactly when refreshed early.
- Keybinds now display for spells cast from macros and on ElvUI action bars.
- Vigil now lists exactly what it adds to Blizzard's Cooldown Manager before asking to reload, and never removes entries on its own - other addons may rely on them. "Restore Blizzard Cooldown Manager" in the Recovery section resets everything to its pre-Vigil state in one step.
- The default layout no longer overlaps when everything is shown: buff and consumable bars sit beside the ability rows instead of below them.
- Fresh installs get a welcome message and an entry under Options > AddOns; characters below level 10 see why the HUD is waiting; new alts no longer inherit another class's profile.
- Profiles are safer: duplicating onto an existing name no longer overwrites it, broken import strings are rejected instead of breaking the addon, and elements you move between groups stay where you put them.
- Profile sharing strings are far shorter - a setup that used to be thousands of characters now exports in a small fraction of that.
- Groups snap exactly to the center of the screen, and your layout stays put across updates instead of drifting.
- Weapon oils and sharpening stones now show correctly even when consumables are styled as icons, and more food buffs are recognized.
- Editor fixes: group name tags always work as drag handles instead of clicking through to whatever is behind them, dialogs close with Escape, and the editor and demo mode no longer open in the middle of combat.
- Updated for WoW 12.0.7.
- Smoother combat performance: cooldown updates batch once per frame instead of once per event.
- Fewer reload prompts and clearer diagnostics when syncing with Blizzard's Cooldown Manager.
- Custom abilities and bars have been retired: every spec's rotation, cooldowns, buffs, and debuffs are tracked out of the box, which the custom editor largely duplicated. Layouts and other settings are unaffected.
v2.30.19
- New characters now start with a focused layout: each group shows a handful of a spec's most-used abilities and buffs instead of everything at once. The full list is still one click away in edit mode.
- Default layouts are now tuned per spec, so healers lead with their core healing toolkit and damage specs lead with their main rotation.
- Fixed: deleting all of a spec's groups now sticks instead of the defaults coming back after a reload.
v2.30.18
- Fixed: opening Blizzard's Edit Mode while Vigil was active could throw a Lua error.
- Fixed: removing the trinket display now sticks instead of reappearing after a reload.
- Improved: keybinds shown on ability icons abbreviate side mouse buttons (Mouse Button 5 appears as "M5") so long bindings no longer stretch across the icon.
v2.30.17
- Fixed: hero-talent buffs tracked only through Cooldown Manager (Voidfall, Mother of Chaos, and others) could disappear after a reload if Cooldown Manager's data finished loading after Vigil had already activated the spec. Saved placements rebuild themselves once the data is available.
v2.30.16
- Fixed: hero-talent buffs (Voidfall and others tracked only through Cooldown Manager) stopped appearing if Cooldown Manager was disabled or its Buff Icon or Buff Bar viewers were hidden in EditMode.
v2.30.15
- Fixed: switching into a role-forced specialization (for example, queueing into a follower dungeon as a different role) could briefly show two overlapping HUDs at once.
- Fixed: after a forced spec change, abilities could appear greyed out as unavailable until a UI reload.
- Added:
/vigil specdebugto report the active spec and flag leftover frames.
