Got too many items in your bags and already throw out those greys? Do you have use for bear meat or boar meat for cooking? Maybe an alt can use it in a recipe? Then this addon is the solution!
When hovering over an item the tooltip should show you if this item is part of a recipe.
Current features as of 1.0.0
- Shows you the tradeskill and recipes that uses the hovered item
- Colored based on skill ("trivial", "easy", "medium", "optimal", "unknown")
- Pressing shift will also show your alts available recipes
- Registers only recipes that your toons know and will record them when opening your tradeskill window
- There is no database with recipes in this addon and is currently not planned as maintaining those databases is a pain
- Any comments are more than welcome!
Version 1.1.0 - Beta!
Major change in looks and showing of the tooltip addition.
- Beta features! Options still needs to be integrated!
- Use ALT, CTRL and SHIFT for the following tooltip options - Please see images for examples!
- ALT will show you the tooltip, without this keypress UsedInRecipe won't show you the tooltip
- CTRL will drill down deeper and shows you recipes that uses the created items
- SHIFT will show you the availability of alts on the current server
- Display has been reworked with icons
- Above will all be available in options screen when released
ALT:
ALT+Shift:
ALT+CTRL:
Bugs
- note that the tooltip when hovering over items in the Enchanting window does not show you the tooltip info. It only works when hovering over items in your bags
Currently not tested
- Localization, the skill based coloring is done through text comparison which are possibly localized (if you can send me the correct ones from the uirReciDB I can implement this in the next version)

Does anyone know of any other addon that could replace this?

Well dang. I really hope the Author comes back or someone picks it up. I don't know of another addon that does the same thing.
Does anybody now how to fix this for the current version of Classic? Currently shows alts recipes as First Aid. By this I mean it will show my alt's Ench, LW, BS etc. as First Aid recipes in the tooltip.

Such a shame that this addon seems to have been abandoned. So useful. Can anyone pick up where the previous developer left this?
1 -
Please make it so I don't have to hold alt and control and it just displays by default.
2 - Allow me to filter out color levels. For instance I'd filter out grey, green and red, and only show if yellow/orange or if something down the tree is yellow or orange.
Thanks!
So far I'm liking your addon. Could I request to somehow filter out alts on the other faction?
Also, any plans to make this for Retail as well?
Does this work for retail?
In reply to Grimdon:
I'm looking for something like this on Retail also. Find anything similar?
In reply to Toddcraft:
Not yet.
In reply to Grimdon:
I found this a little while ago but I haven't tried it yet. Been too busy with the new Diablo season. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/reagent-recipe-tooltip
In reply to Toddcraft:
thank you, will check it out
Seems legit.
Would it be possible to add in data from ReagentData? I'm not sure if that database is still being regularly updated, but it has a TON of info you can pull from - and would negate the need to open tradeskill windows to load recipe data. It also helps to have info for stuff that you don't necessarily have (e.g. im a LW, but knowing something is used for tailoring or alchemy helps me decide if i should keep/which alt to send to).
That said I LOVE this addon and the way it minimizes impact to UI (I was toying around with the beta version), just wish it had a teeny bit more info (i.e. it's currently missing ingredients for recipes i don't yet have) :)
very nice addon, would love if we had the option to track/untrack specific professions, so i could for example exclude tailoring to not have a giant tooltip everytime i mouseover a piece of cloth.:)
This doesn't work! Nothing shows up in the tooltip.
In reply to Forge_User_65209482:
i thought it was broken too, but it gets recipe info when you open your tradeskill window(s) (e.g. leatherworking, cooking for me).
IF you downloaded the beta version you'll also have to hold ALT down to see the tooltip info
I do not see any profession icons
I have already disabled all other addons, but has not changed anything
I can't get this to work, are they known addons that it conflicts with?
