TwoWeekGuild Helper

Members: just install the addon - that's all you need. Want to help keep twoweekguild.com updated? You can optionally run the Reader too (details below). Totally optional.

A small helper for the Two Week Guild (Doomhowl, WoW Classic Era Hardcore) that feeds the guild's stats site, https://twoweekguild.com.

What it does

• Shares your level-ups and a short status (level, class, zone) with the guild.
• Reports Hardcore deaths of guild members, with level, class, zone and killer. Uses the Deathlog addon if you have it (read-only); otherwise this part is skipped.
• Also passes on dings and deaths of other guild members it sees, so nothing gets lost. Duplicates count once.
• Everything travels over WoW's hidden guild addon channel to the guild relay. If no relay is online, it waits in a small queue and is sent later.
• /twg shows the version and status. /twg test checks that a relay hears you. /twg off turns it off.

How the data travels (nothing hidden)

• Guild addon channel: WoW gives addons a hidden message channel. The game doesn't show these messages in chat because they're data for addons, not for people. Any guild member's addons can read them. Your addon sends your dings, status and guild deaths there, and a guild relay picks them up.
• Self-whispers: the addon also whispers short TWG1~ lines to your own character. The game hides them from your chat window, but they land in WoW's chat log file on your PC. That file is what the optional Reader reads. If you don't run the Reader, nothing ever reads them and nothing leaves your PC that way.

Privacy

• WoW addons can't use the internet, and this one doesn't try. No login, no account, no tokens.
• Only guild members' game data is shared: names, levels, classes, zones and deaths. Nothing about players outside the guild. No chat, no last words, no gold.
• The data goes only to the guild relay in-game. Relays accept it only from characters on the guild roster.

Optional: help update the site with the Reader

Totally optional. The Reader (TwoWeekGuildHelper.exe, from twoweekguild.com) reads only the addon's own TWG1~ lines and Blizzard's public [HardcoreDeaths] announcements from your WoW chat log, and posts them over HTTPS to twoweekguild.com with a random anonymous install id. It never sends chat, never writes to your WoW folder, and has no auto-update. Steps and full details are in the addon's README and PRIVACY.md.
