TranslateCN

TranslateCN is a lightweight World of Warcraft 3.80 addon that automatically translates common Chinese chat terms into English. It is designed for players on CN Classic Wrath servers, or anyone who wants to better understand global chat on cross-region realms.

This addon is based on the original Flame translation module but rebuilt into a standalone, cleaner, faster and more configurable version.

Features

• Automatic translation of chat messages
Converts recognised Chinese terms into English using an expanding dictionary. Covers dungeon names, raid names, roles, classes, LFG shorthand and more.

• Channel specific translation controls
Choose exactly which chat types are translated, including Say, Yell, Party, Raid, Guild, Whisper, Battleground and Instance chat.

• Global channel support
Enable or disable translation for global channels such as General, Trade, LookingForGroup and LocalDefense.

• Clean LFG mode
A special mode for LookingForGroup channels that removes the original Chinese text and displays a cleaned English output for easier reading.

• Show translation below or replace the line
Pick between replacing messages or displaying the translation on a new line starting with >>.

• Colour options
Translated terms can be highlighted in white for better visibility.

• Simple options panel
All settings are available in a clear layout inside the game’s Interface Options or via the /tcn command.

Why this addon?

CN Classic realms are extremely active and social, but their LookingForGroup channels often include fast shorthand in Chinese. TranslateCN helps bridge the gap for English players without altering the original behaviour of the game. It keeps things simple and clean while providing enough flexibility to suit your preference.

If you used Flame, this feels familiar but more focused and easier to manage.

/tcn
Opens the TranslateCN options panel.

Notes

The addon currently uses a dictionary translation system. Future updates will expand translation coverage and may include user dictionary support.
