Trailnotes

Trailnotes is the quality-of-life companion for WoW Forever that remembers your journey for you. It takes care of the chores (bag status, junk selling, smart alerts and reminders) with a minimal, out-of-the-way UI that keeps you immersed in the world. Every level is logged so you can compare your runs, and your adventure writes itself into a personal diary as you play. No guides pushed on you, just a smoother, richer Azeroth.

For testing on Season of Discovery. Made for WoW Forever. Trailnotes is built for WoW Forever. Until Forever is live, this test release runs on Season of Discovery / Classic Era so you can try it and send finds. Some data is a Classic seed and is marked "unverified" in game.

Guides are optional. This download has no leveling guide in it: the level tracker starts closed on new characters, and you only see what you switch on. Every part can be turned off: alerts, bars and windows each have their own setting, and Trailnotes Hunter and Trailnotes Beasts are separate addons you can untick in the AddOn List.

Quality of life

Bags and loot

• Bag status bar: free slots, openable items and indicators at a glance.
• Clean bags (junk shovel): sorts gray items, deletes junk with one click, and never touches your keep list.
• Keep list and keep rules: protect items on all characters, plus "never keep" rules.
• Faster loot: instant auto-loot without the loot window flash (hold Shift to see it).
• Don't loot gray items: Poor-quality junk stays on the corpse.
• AH candidates and auto-send: mark items, mail them to your bank alt, post the next one.

Alerts and interface

• Alert stack: all reminders in one tidy, movable stack.
• New spells and ranks, talent points (hides while the talent window is open), racial ready countdowns.
• Durability, ammo and upkeep reminders before you run out.
• Nothing tracked on the minimap alert with a tracking picker, and auto re-track.
• No stance / no aura alerts with a one-click fix.
• Threat meter with an aggro warning and learned threat per ability.
• Minimal unit frames (pet, target of target, focus), objective tracker choice (Blizzard, Trailnotes or hidden) and tracker dividers.
• Party button by the target frame: invite or request a friendly player.
• Quest mob icons on nameplates and the target frame.
• Loadouts and action bar profiles per class, with slot locks; Edit Mode layout import.
• Truncated text tooltips in every list, searchable settings, and one setting that stays in sync everywhere.

Leveling and characters

• Leveling log and Compare: time per level, PvP flagged time, crafting, side by side with your other characters.
• Skills page and skill bars, plus weapon trainers with a "Show me the way" arrow.
• Characters tab: every character on the account with gold totals; Instances tab.
• Profession workbench: sell prices, trainer and recipe sources, slot filter.
• Racial stats for every race.

Getting around

• Trainers and services: /tn nearest finds the closest trainer, stable master, inn, repair or bank; /tn trainer <spell> tells you who teaches it.
• Flights: flight times on the flight map, and a progress bar while you travel.
• Map pins and map notes: your own notes on the world map.

Trailnotes (core)

• Level reminders and tracker (optional): spells to train, talent points, weapon skills and profession ranks as you level.
• Rare watch: alerts for rares you track, with spawn spots and a scan key.
• Quest starters: items that start quests, where they drop, and a nearby alert.
• Journal and diary: a log of your trail, kept per character.
• Spoiler-free mode: hides what you haven't found yourself.
• Medals and Trailnotes Points (TNP): credit for the finds you share.

Trailnotes Hunter

• Hunter hub: one window for everything Hunter.
• Stable snapshot: what's in your stable, even when you're away from it.
• Pet happiness, pet food and ammo alerts, plus a pet XP bar and an aspect alert.
• Pet family stats (/tnh petstats): measures health, armor and damage per family in the background.

Trailnotes Beasts

• Data pack for the Beast browser (/tn beasts): tameable beasts, levels, areas and abilities, with a wish list.

Slash commands

Share my finds, the leaderboard and Discord

Trailnotes notices things the shipped data doesn't have yet: a new rare spot, a flight time, a vendor item. Share my finds (/tn share) turns them into a text string you copy and paste in our Discord. We merge the finds into the next release, and you earn Trailnotes Points (TNP) shown on the in-game leaderboard.

• Nothing is sent automatically: you copy and paste the string yourself.
• You can share anonymously (Explorer#XXXXX) or with your character name. You choose once per account.

Privacy

• No automatic uploads, no web requests, no tracking. Addons can't reach the internet.
• A share string contains your finds, the addon version, region, ruleset and client (SoD / Era / Forever), and an anonymous random ID. It includes your character name and realm only if you choose "Use my character name".
• Your notes stay on your PC in your SavedVariables.

Known limits

• Test release: the leaderboard points from testing will be reset at launch.
• Some data (beasts, pet family stats, trainers) is a Classic seed, and is marked "unverified" until confirmed by shared finds.
• Pet family stats need many samples before they're reliable, and every value is shown as unconfirmed.
• Points arrive with the next release that merges your string, not right away.
