Tongues of Azeroth
Speak the languages of Azeroth — from the maddening whispers of the Old Gods to Orcish, Darnassian, and beyond.
Tongues of Azeroth transforms your outgoing chat into fictional in-world languages, in the spirit of the classic Tongues addon. Great for roleplay, cults, secret pacts, and cryptic in-character moments.
✨ Works on every client
One install runs on 3.3.5a (Wrath), Classic (Vanilla, Cata, Mists), and Retail. A built-in compatibility layer adapts the interface and chat functions to whatever client you're on — no separate downloads to manage.
🔥 Features
- 11 languages, each with its own distinct phonetic feel
- Strength slider (0–100) — control how much of your text is transformed, from a few cryptic words to fully unintelligible
- Per-channel filters — choose exactly which chat types are affected (Say, Yell, Party, Raid, Guild, Whisper, and more)
- Learned Languages — mark tongues your character understands; when another Tongues of Azeroth user speaks one, you'll see the decoded meaning in your own chat
- Live options panel with a real-time preview
- Deterministic — the same words always translate the same way, so speech stays consistent between everyone running the addon
- Punctuation, numbers, and links are preserved

🎮 Getting started
Install, then type /ogt to open the options panel. Pick a language, set your strength, choose your channels, and start speaking.
ℹ️ Good to know
- Chat has a 255-character limit, so translated text is trimmed to fit.
- This transforms your text client-side — it does not touch WoW's real server-side language system.
