Description
Tavernly
I made Tavernly for all the downtime in WoW: waiting for a tank, sitting on a long flight path, or hanging out in town with the guild. It's a collection of 22 small games you can open in a window and play without leaving the game.
Some are solo games where you chase your own high score. Some are one-on-one games you play against a friend who also has Tavernly (or against the computer if nobody's around). And some are party games where everyone in your group sits at the same table.
Type /tavern or click the tankard on your minimap to open it.
Solo games
- Hungry Wyrm: snake. Eat, grow, and don't hit the walls or your own tail.
- Gryphon Gauntlet: tap Space to fly between the stone spires. Medals at 10, 25 and 50.
- Gem Cutter: match-3 against a 90 second clock. Bigger matches give you more time.
- Titan Tiles: a 3x3 sliding picture puzzle. Your record is your fewest moves.
- Kobold Bonk: whack-a-mole with kobolds. Gold helmets are worth more. Leave the gnome alone.
- Rune Echo: watch the runes light up, then repeat the pattern. It gets one longer every round.
- Bobber Bite: click the moment your bobber splashes. Click too early and the fish swims off.
- Karazhan Climb: 2048, but the tiles are item qualities, from grey all the way up to legendary and beyond.
- Deadmines Sweeper: minesweeper with powder kegs. Your record is your fastest clear.
One-on-one games
Each of these can be played against a friend or against the computer.
- Faction Clash: checkers, Alliance vs Horde.
- Murloc Match: tic-tac-toe, Murlocs vs Kobolds.
- Bomb Drop: four in a row.
- Booty Bay Broadside: battleship.
- Goldshire Showdown: rock-paper-scissors with Warrior, Mage and Rogue. First to 5 wins.
- Light & Shadow: reversi.
- Hoard Snatch: dots and boxes.
- Memory Duel: flip cards to find matching pairs.
Party games
- Booty Bay Bluff (2-5 players): liar's dice. Bid on what's under everyone's cups and call out the liars.
- Gnomish Sketchpad (2-8 players): one person draws a word, everyone else guesses.
- Higher or Lower (2-8 players): guess whether the next card is higher or lower. Three wrong guesses and you're out.
- Murloc Roulette (2-6 players): a push-your-luck dice game. Keep rolling for more points, or bank them before the murlocs get you.
- Spy in the Raid (3-8 players): everyone knows the secret location except the spy. Ask each other questions in party chat and try to work out who it is.
Booty Bay Bluff, Higher or Lower and Murloc Roulette can also be played on your own against computer players.
How to play with friends
Everyone needs Tavernly installed, and you all need the same version. If someone is out of date, Tavernly will tell you who.
For one-on-one games, open the game, type your friend's name (or target them and press Use Target), and press Challenge. They get a popup to accept.
For party games, get into a group first. One person opens the game and clicks Open a Table, everyone else gets an invite to join, and the host starts the game when everyone's in.
Records
The Records tab shows your best score in each game next to your friends' scores. Records are swapped automatically when you're grouped or in a guild with other Tavernly players, and they're saved, so you can still compare after people log off.
You can also choose to have Tavernly post an emote when you beat your own record, so people nearby can see it. It asks you the first time, and you can turn it off in the options.
Good to know
The two keyboard games, Hungry Wyrm and Gryphon Gauntlet, pause and give your keys back as soon as you enter combat. The rest are played with the mouse, and Esc closes any game.
Everything between players is sent with hidden addon messages, so nothing shows up in chat for people who don't have the addon.
If you don't want game invites, you can turn them off in the options. The options are under Esc > Options > AddOns > Tavernly, or type /tavern options.
/tavern help lists every command, including shortcuts to jump straight into a game (for example /tavern wyrm or /tavern spy).
Questions
My friend doesn't show up in the list. Check you're both on the same version with /tavern version, then group up or press Search for Players.
Some Titan Tiles pictures are missing. Tavernly only shows pictures it can find in your game files, so the list can be different between game versions.
I used Azeroth Arcade or Innkeeper's Games before. Those were earlier names for this addon. Install Tavernly and log in once with the old one still installed, and your scores and settings will be copied across. Then you can delete the old folder.
