StayBear

Bear means bear.

StayBear is a tiny quality-of-life addon for Guardian Druids designed to solve one very specific problem:

Accidentally dropping Bear Form while tanking.

Normally, certain abilities can automatically shift your Druid out of Bear Form when pressed. That is inconvenient while questing.

While tanking, it can get you killed.

StayBear prevents automatic unshifting while you are in Bear Form, helping ensure that an accidental spell press does not suddenly leave you standing in front of a boss without your fur, armor, or dignity.

What StayBear Does

When you enter Bear Form, StayBear disables World of Warcraft's automatic unshifting behavior.

When you deliberately leave Bear Form, StayBear restores your previous setting.

That's it.

No rotation assistance.
No action-bar replacement.
No combat automation.
No giant settings framework.

Just Bear protection.

Designed for Guardian Druids

One of the biggest reasons StayBear exists is Regrowth.

Guardian Druids may want Regrowth available for effects such as Dream of Cenarius, but accidentally pressing Regrowth without the appropriate effect should not mean unexpectedly dropping Bear Form in the middle of a pull.

StayBear helps prevent exactly that.

Abilities that are valid while remaining in Bear Form continue to work normally, and deliberate shapeshifting is still under your control.

StayBear is enabled by default.

Important Note

World of Warcraft treats the automatic unshift setting as protected during combat.

StayBear therefore applies Bear protection when the game permits it and safely restores your previous setting when possible.

For normal Guardian tanking, entering combat already in Bear Form provides the intended protection.

Why?

Because pressing the wrong button while tanking should not turn you into a very surprised elf, troll, tauren, worgen, or Kul Tiran standing directly in front of something trying to kill you.
