Sojourn
Your adventure, remembered.
Sojourn is a World of Warcraft: Forever addon that quietly keeps a journal of your journey — the quests you read, the places you walk, the loot you find, the people you meet — and gives you a better map and a better chat to live in while you play.
It's made of independent modules. Turn on the ones you want in the AddOns screen; each works on its own with just Sojourn - Core.
The main goal is to create my own collection of addons that are not intrusive and do not disrupt the intended adventure in WoW Forever. My aim is to create seamless additions to the game so it always felt like it was there without spoiling the game.
Status: In active development for WoW: Forever (open beta). Expect changes until Forever's launch.
The Modules
🗺️ Sojourn - Map Pins
Your own pins on the map, and a map that shows more.
Custom map pins: Alt+click (Option+click on Mac) the world map or the minimap to drop a pin — herbs, ore, treasure, rares, anything — with an icon, a title and a note. Hover for a preview, click to read, Shift+click to edit.
Deeper zoom: Keep zooming past the usual limit on zone maps to see the minimap's detailed terrain.
Fog of war: That detailed terrain only appears where you've actually walked — the map fills in as you explore. See how much of each zone you've explored, with milestones along the way.
Waypoint arrow: A green arrow points you to the pin or map waypoint you're heading for. A checkbox brings back Blizzard's floating waypoint marker, which Forever hides from the game's own options.
Nearest: A coin button on the world map lists the vendors, trainers, flight masters, banks and auction houses you've met, nearest first — click one for a waypoint. Item tooltips say which of those vendors sell the item (/soj where finds anyone you've met by name).
New spells at level-up: A quiet notice says how many new spells your trainer has for you, and where the nearest one is.
All your pins in one list: Open with /soj pins or its minimap button. Search by title, note or zone, filter by kind, and click to open the map there.
Map filters: The map's own filter button gets a "Sojourn" section. Tick every kind of Sojourn marker on or off right on the map (deaths, inns, rares, loot spots, herbs, ore, fishing, quests), and use the "Map Pins" section to hide pin kinds.
📜 Sojourn - Ledger
A quest journal that keeps the story.
Complete quest history: Every quest you accept is recorded with its full text, objectives and rewards — including the reward you chose, and the XP, money and reputation you got.
Quest browser: Browse by continent, zone and status, or search. Read any quest again on a parchment page.
Quest chains: When an NPC hands you the follow-up right after you turn one in, the quest's page shows the whole chain — click any part to read it.
Quest history on the map: Optionally display where you picked up and handed in your quests.
Quest navigation: A gold quest arrow points to the quest you're following.
NPC history: Hover an NPC to see when you last met them and the quests they gave you.
👣 Sojourn - Footfall
A day-by-day record of where you went.
Adventure timeline: Places, inns, discoveries, level-ups, dungeons, deaths, rare sightings and the NPCs you spoke with, each with where it happened on the map.
Who killed you: Each death says what got you ("killed by Hogger") and the hits before it. The skull on the map says so too.
Danger in tooltips: Hover a creature that has killed you before to see messages such as "Has killed you 3 times, last 2 days ago".
Dungeon runs: One line per run — how long, who was with you, the bosses you beat and the good loot.
Milestones: Reputation standings, profession steps and new recipes, your first craft of each item, trainer visits and every flight you take.
Rare sightings: Rares appear on the map, one marker per spot, with how often and when you last saw them.
Personal journal: Write your own entries about your adventures.
Travel statistics: Review your travels and discoveries.
Library: Keep a record of the books and letters you've read.
Travel routes: View today's route drawn on the world map.
Notes on players: Right-click anyone and choose "Sojourn note…" — your note shows in their tooltip.
💰 Sojourn - Loot Goblin
Remembers everything you loot.
Loot history: Records which corpse, chest, node or catch an item came from, and where. Entries are grouped by play session and searchable.
Item drop tracking: Item tooltips say how many you've looted, where from, and which creatures drop it and how often.
Creature drop rates: A creature's tooltip lists its drops with their rates — counted from your own kills, including the empty ones. Hold Shift to see them, or turn that off to always see them.
Gold ledger: Tracks where your money came from and went each session — loot, quests, vendors, repairs, training, flights, mail and the Auction House.
Gathering spots: Herb, ore and fishing spots you've used appear on the world map, one marker per spot.
Upgrade notices: Loot that beats what you're wearing pops a small notice — click to equip.
Durability at a glance: A small armour figure tinted by wear, and one quiet "repair your gear" warning when something runs low.
📖 Sojourn - Epilogue
"Previously on your adventure…"
Session stories: Each play session becomes a short story told from everything the other modules recorded: time played, levels, gold, places and quests.
Welcome back: Come back after a break and a notice offers to remind you where you left off — and points the quest arrow back at the quest you were on.
Weeks and Months: Your adventure summed up week by week and month by month.
On This Day: Occasionally recalls a moment from this date in your past.
Loose Ends: When returning to a zone after a while, a notice reminds you what you left unfinished there.
Leveling pace: The XP bar's tooltip shows how fast you're leveling.
Adventure export: /soj export exports your whole journey (or the last few days) as text to copy — sessions, zones, journal, people, books, quests, loot and pins.
🌙 Sojourn - Interlude
A quiet screen while you're away.
AFK experience: Go AFK and the interface fades, the camera slowly circles your character, and a parchment page appears.
Session summary: The parchment page shows who you are, how long you've been away and this session so far — from every other module you use.
Automatic return: Move or click to come back. Combat brings you back at once.
Manual preview: Try it with /soj interlude.
🪙 Sojourn - Haggle
Auction House prices, remembered as you browse — no scanning app, no account.
Price history: Every item you see on the Auction House gets its price written down. Item tooltips then show what it sells for lately on your realm and faction, how many are listed and when it was seen.
Sales estimates: Look at an item's listings twice a few hours apart and Haggle estimates how many sell a day.
Auction House price graphs: Search for an item and a panel shows:
- Its typical price.
- How many are listed.
- How many seem to sell each day.
- Graphs of its price and supply over time. Full Auction House scanning: Scan everything with one click. Progress is saved as it goes, and the next scan picks up where an interrupted one stopped.
Price database statistics: /soj haggle says how many prices it knows.
💬 Sojourn - Chat
A chat window you'll actually want to look at.
Custom chat styles:
- Parchment: Matches Sojourn's journal appearance.
- Dark Glass: A darker, modern appearance.
- Phone Bubbles: Two styles, blue and round, with portraits.
- Choose your preferred font. Blizzard chat integration: Your tabs are Blizzard's chat tabs. Set them up in Blizzard's own Chat Settings and Sojourn follows.
Customizable tabs:
- Pick each tab's icon from every icon in the game.
- Drag icons to reorder them.
- Drag a tab off the strip to pop it out into its own window. Compact mode: Collapse the interface into a slim strip of glowing icons, with unread counts per tab.
Message history: Search messages, access history between sessions and see your whispers the moment you send them.
Mentions: Mentions of your name stand out.
Handy extras:
- Class-coloured names, following Blizzard's own "Color name by class" setting.
- Clickable web links.
- Your own alert words.
- Repeated spam shown once, with a count such as "×3".
- A hide-words list.
- Short channel names.
- Copy a tab's text.
- A sound per tab.
- Alt+click a name to invite.
- Shift+mouse wheel to jump to the newest or oldest message.
- Optional arrow-key history to bring back what you typed. Save conversations: Save a whisper conversation to your Journal from the tab's menu.

Your Data Stays Yours
Sojourn has no network access — addons can't have any.
Everything it records stays in your own saved variables.
Local Storage
Data is stored in:
WTF/Account/<account>/SavedVariables/Sojourn*.lua
These files are written when you log out or use /reload.
Each log module has a Keep records setting if you'd rather not keep everything forever.
Data Sharing
Sharing sends only what you pick, to the player you pick, through the game's own addon messages.
You control what information is shared.
Backup and Restore
Use the following commands to protect your adventure history:
/soj backup— Export all your Sojourn data as one text to keep somewhere safe./soj restore— Restore your saved data.
Performance
Light on your computer.
Sojourn is designed to remain lightweight as your adventure history grows.
- Does nothing while you stand still.
- Never redraws more than necessary.
- Is tested so its work never grows into a hitch as your history grows.
Use /soj perf to inspect the time and memory consumed by each module.
Coming Soon
