What's new

Changelog

v1.4.0

  • A tidier minimap. It now shows only the ley lines worth going to: ones seen up in the last hour, within 500 yards, and only when your buff is gone or has under 2 minutes left. The rest stay off the minimap (no circle, no edge icon); the world map still shows them all.
  • Rotating minimap fixed. With Rotate Minimap on, turning while the minimap was being read could put ley lines in the wrong place or mark real ones missing. A scan during which you turn is now thrown away and done again once you hold still.
  • Minimap sightings are shared every 10 minutes, not every 5, matching SLLCM's own scan. Where you got the buff is still shared after 5 minutes.

v1.3.0

  • Rings colored by when the ley line was last seen. On the world map and the minimap: green when seen just now, turning yellow over the hour, red up to 4 hours, then grey. A sighting counts when it's yours (the minimap's dot, or the buff given there) or another player's in your phase; one known to be in another phase doesn't. The colors age on their own, every 30 seconds.
  • The ring no longer says how a spot is known (gold, purple, teal): the tooltip still does.

v1.2.4

  • Kalimdor's ley lines on the Azeroth map. Zoomed all the way out, the world map showed only the Eastern Kingdoms' spots; Kalimdor's showed only once you zoomed in. Both continents' show now.

v1.2.3

  • Ley lines are per phase, and so is what you saw. A spot your minimap showed empty in one phase is no longer skipped or twinkling once you're in another phase, where it may well be up; back in that phase it counts as missing again. Another player seeing it up in a different phase no longer clears your miss either.
  • The pin's tooltip says when the last sighting, or the time you found it missing, was in another phase.
  • This needs sharing on (the phase is read from NPCs only then); without it, nothing changes.

v1.2.2

  • Bigger icons. World map pins are larger (26 px zoomed out, 38 px zoomed in, was 16 to 24), and so are the minimap's circles (32 px, was 22) and the icon on its edge toward the nearest ley line (20 px, was 12).

v1.2.1

  • Controller mode: reading the minimap no longer switches off its soft cursor, which the controller interface uses.

v1.2.0

  • No more leading you to a ley line that isn't there. A spot your minimap showed empty in the last hour is skipped: /sbc go, the Trailwise arrow and the Buffs racial reminder go to the nearest one that may be up instead. /sbc probe still names it.
  • Missing ley lines are shared too. When your minimap shows no ley line where one was known, other Skyborne Compass players in your phase hear of it: its pin twinkles for them as well ("Gone in your phase"), until someone sees it up again. Players who join later are told too, when they ask what's known in their phase. It goes on the same channel as before; SLLCM doesn't know these messages and ignores them.
  • On characters that aren't Skyborne, Skyborne Compass stays quiet: sharing (and its debug log), turned on with another character, no longer runs there.

v1.1.0

  • Share with other players. Skyborne Compass now talks on the same hidden channel as Skyborne Ley Line & Convergence Marker, so players of both addons see each other's finds. Ley lines come and go, and each phase has its own: a spot someone saw up in your phase lately has a green ring, turning red over 90 minutes. A place nobody had told you about becomes a spot of its own (teal). You're asked once whether to share; /sbc share on or off changes it later. With SLLCM installed too, it does the talking and Skyborne Compass only listens.
  • A circle on the minimap, like GatherMate2's, instead of an icon: the game's own ley line dot shows inside it when the ley line is up. The nearest spot beyond the minimap's reach shows as a small icon on its edge, pointing to it.
  • Spots that aren't there any more twinkle. When your minimap shows no ley line where one was known, its pin twinkles on the world map for an hour, and its tooltip says "Not there when you passed by".
  • More built-in spots: 111 ley lines and convergences (from SLLCM 0.3.2), up from 55.

v1.0.0

First release on its own. Skyborne Compass is the ley line finder from Swypy's Leveling Suite - Buffs, now a separate addon that any Skyborne player can use.

  • Finds ley lines and elemental convergences. Cast Read Ley Line (Alliance) or Skysight (Horde) on one for the 15-minute buff; elsewhere it only lasts seconds. Skyborne Compass knows where they are: the ones built in (from Skyborne Ley Line & Convergence Marker by tr0tsky, MIT), every spot where you got the 15-minute buff, and the dots your minimap shows you as you travel (never in combat).
  • On your maps. The known spots on the world map and the minimap, with when you last saw each one and how it's known (where you got the buff, seen on your minimap, or built in). Click one to be led there. The world map's filter menu hides them.
  • Leads you there. /sbc go has the Trailwise arrow lead you to the nearest one (without Trailwise, the game's map waypoint). With Swypy's Leveling Suite - Buffs, a click on the racial reminder does the same, and the reminder still shows and pulses near a known spot.
  • Any language. The minimap dot's name is learned the first time you get the buff on one.
  • /sbc probe lists what every dot on your minimap is; /sbc debug what Skyborne Compass knows; /sbc forget clears the spots it saved.
  • Options in Settings > AddOns (under Swypy's Leveling Suite when you have it), or /sbc.
  • If the Buffs addon found ley lines for you before, the spots it saved and its minimap option carry over.
