SimpleClick
SimpleClick is a compact, highly configurable click-casting unit frame addon designed for players who want fast healing and utility without a large or complicated interface.
It started as a simple set of player and party frames, but has grown into a full-featured click-casting addon while keeping the actual gameplay experience clean and straightforward.
SimpleClick is currently designed for WoW: Forever Beta and TBC Classic.
Clean and compact unit frames
SimpleClick provides lightweight frames for yourself and your party members.
The default layout is intentionally compact, but frame width, height, spacing, health-bar colour, power-bar visibility and corner text can all be customized.
The goal is to keep the information you actually need visible without turning your screen into a dashboard.
Secure click casting
Mouse buttons can be assigned directly to spells.
SimpleClick supports:
- Left, Right and Middle mouse buttons
- Mouse Button 4 and Mouse Button 5
- Shift, Ctrl and Alt modifiers
- TARGET and MENU actions
- Existing WoW macros by name
- Custom spell names
Bindings use WoW's secure action system and are tied explicitly to the unit frame being clicked.
This also prevents an out-of-range party cast from unexpectedly falling back to yourself. If the intended target cannot be reached, the cast simply fails normally.
Spell and macro picker
You do not have to remember every exact spell name.
Each binding field includes a picker containing spells currently known by your character, saved WoW macros, TARGET and MENU.
Manual input is still supported for users who want full control.
Unknown or misspelled spell bindings are highlighted so configuration mistakes are easier to spot.
Profiles
SimpleClick includes a profile system that allows different setups for different classes, characters or play styles.
A Priest healing setup can be completely different from a Druid or Shaman setup without having to rebuild the configuration every time you switch character.
Profiles store click bindings, tracked buffs, dispel settings and other relevant frame options.
Buff and debuff tracking
Up to three specific buffs can be tracked directly on the unit frames.
This is useful for effects such as HoTs, shields or other buffs you want to keep an eye on without displaying every aura in the game.
Debuffs can also be displayed on the frames.
Tracked buff names are validated, so obvious spelling mistakes are highlighted instead of silently appearing to work.
Secret-safe aura handling
Modern WoW clients can protect certain aura information as secret values, especially during combat.
SimpleClick uses Blizzard's AuraContainer system rather than relying on direct aura scanning that can cause taint or Lua errors.
This allows buffs and debuffs to remain useful while respecting the current protected UI restrictions.
Dispel highlighting
SimpleClick can highlight frames when the current character has a selected type of debuff that can actually be dispelled.
Magic, Disease, Poison and Curse filtering can be configured per profile.
Debuffs may still be displayed even when your current character cannot remove them, while the stronger frame highlight is reserved for effects you can actually act on.
Role icons
Small Tank, Healer and DPS role icons can be displayed on party frames when WoW reports an assigned role.
The icons are intentionally small and positioned so they do not take useful space away from health bars, names or aura icons.
Binding tooltip
Hovering over a SimpleClick unit frame can display a small tooltip showing the active click bindings for the current profile.
For example:
Left Click: Rejuvenation
Right Click: Regrowth
Shift + Left: Healing Touch
Alt + Left: Target
This can be enabled or disabled in the settings.
Spell helper
The settings window also includes an optional spell helper.
Hovering over a binding field displays the character's known non-passive spells, making it easier to configure bindings without constantly opening the spellbook.
Test Mode
SimpleClick includes a built-in visual test mode.
It can display a simulated five-player party with different health levels, power values, buffs, debuffs, role icons and dispel highlighting.
This makes it possible to adjust the layout and appearance without having to join a group first.
Test Mode is intended for visual and configuration testing. Real secure party targeting and combat behaviour should still be tested in an actual group.
Minimap button
The minimap button provides quick access to SimpleClick.
Left Click: Toggle SimpleClick frames on or off
Right Click: Open settings
Drag: Move the minimap button
A mouseover tooltip explains the controls and current state.
Designed to stay simple
SimpleClick contains a lot of functionality, but the goal is not to expose every possible option just because it can.
The addon is designed around a simple idea:
See the important information, click the frame, cast the spell.
Advanced behaviour stays mostly behind the scenes so the addon remains quick to configure and easy to use during actual gameplay.
