You group with a hundred strangers a week. SaltyVote is how the realm remembers them.

A realm has a long memory — except it lives in a handful of guild officers' heads and never reaches you. SaltyVote gives that memory to everyone. Three quick questions, answered by the people who actually played with someone, shown right on their portrait.

No forms. No website. No sign-up. Right-click a player, click an option, done.

Three things you want to know before you invite someone

👤 Gender — who am I actually talking to?

Characters are costumes, and that's part of the fun. But a lot of social friction comes from simply not knowing who's on the other end — and most people are happy to say.

• Anyone can state their own. You set each of your characters to male or female in the settings, and that outranks every vote on every client that receives it. Nobody can vote over the top of you.
• Everyone else gets three options: male, female, or unsure — because "I don't know" is an honest answer and deserves a button.
• Change it whenever you like. Votes and declarations are both switchable at any time.

Self-declaration always wins. That's the whole design: this is a way for people to be known, not a way to be labelled.

🤝 Group behaviour — are they good to run with?

Five verdicts, and you can only vote on someone you actually grouped with:

The spread is shown as a live distribution bar, plus a single Group Score out of 100 on their portrait — so you get the gist at a glance and the detail on hover.

The score is deliberately cautious: a brand-new player starts near 50 and needs real votes to move either way. One bad night can't brand somebody, and one friend can't crown them.

⭐ Kudos — who actually helps people?

One button. Say thanks. There is no negative option — this axis exists to be climbed, not to be used against anyone.

And it's half-measured for you. SaltyVote quietly notices the favours that hold a server together:

portals · summons · conjured food and drink · resurrections · soulstones · battle rezzes · innervates

Every one of them is counted automatically from the combat log, attributed to the player who cast it.

Then it ranks your whole realm. The top helper gets a gold laurel on their portrait that everyone running SaltyVote can see. You get told where you stand when you log in.

Kudos: you are #7 of 143 on this realm.

Mages and warlocks: this ladder was built for you. You can top it at level 20 without ever setting foot in a raid.

Why the votes are worth trusting

This is the part most voting addons get wrong.

• One slot per voter, per axis. Voting twice replaces your vote, it never stacks. Ballot-stuffing isn't blocked — it's structurally impossible.
• Voter names are never shown. Anywhere. You see counts and percentages. You never see who said what, and neither does anyone else. No pile-ons, no reprisals.
• Group behaviour is gated. You cannot vote on someone you never grouped with. Opinions about strangers don't count.
• Kudos can't be given from a list. You have to be looking at the player, because a thanks should mean you actually met them.
• Disagreement is shown, not hidden. When there's no clear majority, SaltyVote says so instead of picking a winner.
• Your declaration beats everyone. Always.

It's already where you're looking

You don't go to SaltyVote. It comes to you.

• Portrait badge — sits outside the portrait, right of the level. Gender at a glance, with the group score and thanks count beside it.
• Unit tooltip — the full picture on mouseover: what they said about themselves, the vote distribution, the score, their kudos rank.
• Chat — an icon before messages from players you have data on. Hover their name for the full block.
• Friends list — same tooltip, and you can vote straight from the right-click menu.
• Right-click, anywhere — unit frames, chat, party, friends list, guild roster.

The browser

/svote browse opens the lot: every player you've heard about, one tab per axis.

Search by name, sort by newest, and page through as you scroll. The Kudos tab is a live leaderboard — ranked by thanks, with the favours you've watched each player perform. Delete anyone you don't want to keep.

It gets better with every person who installs it

Votes are shared automatically with everyone in your guild or group who runs SaltyVote — theirs come to you, yours go to them. No configuration, no channels to join, nothing to switch on.

That means your rank on the helper ladder is built from what this addon's network has seen. Telling your guild to install it directly raises your own standing.

Votes work on every player, whether or not they run the addon.

You're in control

• Panic toggle — /svote hide hides every visual instantly and keeps all your data.
• Hide in dungeons and raids — optional, one checkbox.
• Turn off the icons you don't want: portrait badge, chat icon.
• Everything is local. Your data lives in your own saved variables. Delete any player, or wipe the lot, whenever you like.

Getting started

1. Install and log in.
2. /svote config → set your own characters to male or female.
3. Right-click anyone to vote.
4. /svote browse to see everything.

FAQ

Does it work on players who don't have the addon? Yes. You can vote on anybody. They just won't see the results unless they install it.

Can someone spam votes to wreck my score? No. Each player gets one slot per axis, so a hundred votes from one person is still one vote. Group behaviour also requires that they actually grouped with you.

Can I change my mind? Any time, on any axis. Votes and declarations are both switchable, and you can take a thanks back.

Will people see that I voted? No. Voter names are never displayed anywhere in the addon, to anyone.

Someone declared a gender I disagree with. Can I vote over it? No — and that's deliberate. What a person says about themselves outranks the crowd, every time.

Compatibility

Works alongside ShadowedUnitFrames (fully supported for portrait anchoring) and the usual chat addons. Anchors to your unit frames wherever they are — default or custom — and if something looks off, /svote badge tells you exactly why in one line.
