SafeguardReloaded
A Classic Era addon that helps you stay alive.
SafeguardReloaded warns you the moment something goes wrong — your health drops, you get stunned mid-fight, a group member disconnects, or the boss you are tanking stores a burst of extra attacks. It flashes your screen, plays an alert, prints an onscreen notification, and optionally tells your group in chat, so nobody has to notice a problem on their own.
About this addon
This is a maintained continuation of Safeguard by Tollski, which is no longer receiving updates. SafeguardReloaded picks it up where it left off, updated for the current Classic Era client and with several long-standing bugs fixed.
All original code and design is by Tollski. This fork is maintained by Rynaoki.
Features
Low health alerts
- Flashes the screen when your health drops below a threshold you set
- Plays an alert sound, with separate thresholds for low and critically low
- Both thresholds are configurable, and screen flashing and sounds can be toggled independently
Onscreen notifications
Get notified when:
- You or a group member disconnects or goes offline
- You or a group member enters combat
- You or a group member has low health
- You or a group member is crowd controlled — stunned, silenced, feared, rooted, disarmed
- A group member is logging out
- A group member casts certain spells, such as Hearthstone
- You or a nearby player gains a threat-altering effect — Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield, Divine Intervention, Feign Death, Vanish and similar
- You become flagged or unflagged for PvP
- An enemy stores extra attacks, such as Thrash
Every category can be switched on or off separately, and most can be set independently for yourself and for your group.
Automatic group chat messages
Let your group know without typing, when:
- Your health is critically low
- You are casting Hearthstone or a similar spell
- You are crowd controlled
- You are logging out
- A deadly enemy targeting you stores extra attacks
Quality of life
- PvP flag timer — a draggable window counting down until you are unflagged
- Raid frame icons — connection and combat status shown directly on compact raid frames
- Floating Combat Text — optionally force the interface option to stay enabled
- Error interception — addon errors are printed to chat instead of throwing popups
Slash commands
/sgror/safeguardreloaded— open the options panel/sgor/safeguard— same, kept from the original addon/sgrdebug— print the last 50 debug log entries/sgrtest— print the loaded addon version
The options panel is also available from the minimap addon compartment and under Game Menu → Options → AddOns → SafeguardReloaded.
Installation
Install through the CurseForge app, or manually:
- Download the zip
- Extract it into
World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns\ - Make sure the folder is named exactly
SafeguardReloaded— the addon will not load otherwise - Restart the game
If you used the original Safeguard, disable or remove it first. Both addons register the same /sg and /safeguard commands, and running them together sends duplicate messages to your group.
Your existing Safeguard settings are imported automatically the first time SafeguardReloaded loads alongside it.
Compatibility

- A TOC for TBC Classic 2.5.5 is also included
- No dependencies
Group members running the original Safeguard can still exchange status information with SafeguardReloaded users — the addon message prefix was deliberately left unchanged, so mixed groups keep working.
