Rustcore adds gear attrition, meaningful loss, and extra risk to WoW.

For players on standard WoW realms, Rustcore offers a middle ground between normal play and Hardcore: death has consequences, but it doesn’t have to mean the end of your character.

For Hardcore players, Rustcore can add another layer to the challenge by removing item repair entirely, turning every point of durability into a limited resource and forcing you to adapt as your equipment slowly wears down.

By default, repairs are disabled and dying causes you to lose 1 random equipped item. The challenge can be adjusted from a simple no-repair run all the way to losing your entire equipped set on death.

Difficulty

All difficulties disable item repair.

• Rusted — No repair.
• Broken — Lose 1 item on death.
• Shattered — Lose 25% of equipped gear on death.
• Crumbling — Lose 50% of equipped gear on death.
• Dust — Lose all equipped gear on death.

Rustcore also includes optional settings and exceptions, letting you shape the challenge around the way you want to play. You can allow repairs, exclude certain equipment such as your main weapon from item loss, or adjust how punishing death should be.

Self-Found Mode

For an even more self-sufficient journey, you can enable Self-Found Mode, which blocks mailbox use, Auction House access, and player trading.

Durability & Death Tracking

A more detailed durability display makes it easier to see your equipment deteriorate over time and plan around what may break next.

When other Rustcore players are online, the addon can also share deaths and show which item was lost, making those moments part of the experience for everyone using the addon.

Whether you're playing on a standard WoW Classic realm and want death to have consequences, or Hardcore and want to push the challenge even further, Rustcore turns your equipment into a limited resource. Gear wears out, death can strip pieces away, and every upgrade feels more meaningful when your equipment is never guaranteed to last.

Verification

Rustcore includes a verification system that tracks whether a character has followed the challenge rules. 

To avoid false disqualification due to crashes or similar events, some missing tracked playtime is allowed, with the tolerance starting at 50% for new characters and gradually tightening to 5% by level 50.

Verification is mainly for bragging rights and is not required to use Rustcore. Your verified difficulty and Self-Found status can be visible to other Rustcore players when they target you.

Warning: This addon can permanently delete your gear when you click the DELETE button. It deletes only one item per click, but there is no confirmation window. Deleted items cannot be recovered through the addon.
