Ability Scores using genuine 5e point-buy (start at 8, spend 27 points, earn more as you level)
Saving Throws and Skill Checks, each tied to the right ability and an optional proficiency bonus
Custom Abilities — give them an icon (pick from an in-game icon browser), a governing ability score, damage dice, and a resource cost (which can even regenerate resource instead of spending it)
