What's new

Rummage Retail 1.4.0-retail-beta2

Beta - target WoW Retail 12.1.5 (70448), Interface 120105. Standalone; no required addons. This publishing package refreshes documentation and gallery assets without changing addon runtime code.

  • Stop failed move/selling jobs safely and prevent restricted slots from confirming sales.
  • Revalidate item rows before native clicks and drags; reject restricted quest/action metadata.
  • Keep unknown slots out of free-space counts and skip locked empty move destinations.
  • Refresh accessible character-bank data after combat.
  • Avoid redundant companion indicator paints and discovery while adapters are disabled.
  • Reduce slot-query allocations and decline malformed optional pricing APIs.
  • Preserve native Warband bank access; Rummage transfers remain character-bank only.

Validation on this build: 579 simulated assertions, 29 Lua modules compiled, plus static/package checks. Portable suite: 573 assertions. These are mock/API checks, not in-game tests. Both builds still need live-client acceptance for rendering, secure actions/taint, server timing and actual helper combinations.

Historical development record

The following notes describe earlier development milestones; the current flavor and validation status above take precedence.

1.4.0-retail-beta2 — 2026-10-21

  • Stop failed move/sale jobs safely; restricted slots cannot acknowledge a sale.

  • Revalidate item rows before click/drag, reject restricted quest/action fields, and avoid treating unknown slots as free space.

  • Refresh accessible bank data after combat; skip locked empty destinations.

  • Paint companion discoveries once per full refresh and stop discovering buttons while disabled.

  • Remove hot slot-query table allocations; validate optional pricing API shapes.

  • 579 simulated assertions, 29 modules compiled; live Retail acceptance remains pending. Forever is unchanged. See RETAIL-AUDIT.md.

1.4.0-beta8 / separate 1.4.0-retail-beta1 — 2026-10-21

  • Revalidate live upgrade identity/locks; refresh scaling metadata on level-up.

  • Isolate/report native event-handler failures, preserve valid unsupported container history and guard invalid/restricted data.

  • Keep narrow search usable, restore native disabled controls and precise wheel sliders, and prevent hidden Companion search focus.

  • Defer late bank attachment in combat; avoid protected cooldown edits/Blizzard bag hiding and overlapping own drag actions.

  • Create a separate Retail 12.1.5 platform policy: current bank templates, ranged main-hand mapping, no enum-only keyring, read-only combat interactions and preserved native Warband bank access.

  • 531 Forever / 555 Retail simulated assertions; 28 / 29 modules compile. Live-client acceptance remains pending. No gameplay automation, runtime dependency or public release added.

1.4.0-beta7 — 2026-10-21

  • Audited beta6 and fixed bulk-sale quest/key safety, incomplete-gear appearance protection, guild repair budget checks and preview Equip revalidation.

  • Corrected appearance cache expiry, invalidation and live-versus-cached tooltip identities; refresh upgrade comparisons on spec/talent/spell changes.

  • Defer new foreign button scripts/method hooks during combat and avoid adapter rescans for unrelated item data and unchanged renders.

  • Initialize optional helpers after late loads without duplicate registrations; validate helper prices, retry transient Pawn errors and bound its cache.

  • Retain standalone Forever scope, optional integrations and per-feature Companion switches. Native bank sort rechecks character-bank access.

  • 28 Lua modules compile; 506 assertions pass. Actual Forever client acceptance remains required. Retail is a separate later phase.

1.4.0-beta6 — 2026-10-21

  • Add optional Baganator upgrade/appearance corner widgets and capability-checked Bagnon-family item-icon adapters.

  • Extend the shared contract to compatible Bagnonium/Combuctor engines, with a safe public button-registration interface for other bag authors.

  • Respect per-feature/per-addon choices, existing native/helper indicators, host widget placement and current-player versus cached ownership.

  • Preserve interaction scripts and method results; clear pooled/empty/mismatched buttons, coalesce refreshes and defer new connections during combat.

  • Isolate unsupported APIs and skin/registration failures without repeated registration or region leaks. Add /rum adapters status.

  • Keep all integrations optional, native disposal protection independent and normal-tooltip support available broadly.

  • Add 58 adapter checks, including six against inspected upstream API code, and profile/export coverage for per-addon switches. No upstream addon code is bundled.

1.4.0-beta5 — 2026-10-21

  • Add optional Companion mode with thirteen independently selected features, initially off, and a standalone tool panel.

  • Leave bag opening hooks, native bank parenting and bag-key overrides alone in Companion mode; accept other bag replacements without the replacement-conflict popup.

  • Add a Companion settings tab, reload-safe mode changes, immediate feature gates/cancellation and saved profile/export support.

  • Extend ordinary item tooltips with optional supply, upgrade and appearance labels/model previews using public native callbacks; keep other addon item-button scripts untouched.

  • Separate companion automatic junk selling from full-mode preferences; retain verified seller/repair ownership and feature-aware warnings.

  • Keep uncollected/unknown appearance disposal protection independent of display settings. Prevent stale upgrade retries and destination swaps caused by another helper.

  • Check native character-bank availability for scans and inventory actions, preserving cached data during account-only access.

  • Add regression coverage and a Companion guide. Remain standalone; real-client and helper-version checks remain required.

1.4.0-beta4 — 2026-10-21

  • Audit all modules and correct Forever's ninth bank tab, enum IDs, bank bag inventory mapping, native purchases and sorting; ignore unrelated account-bank container events.

  • Preserve native bank events and attach late-loaded bank UI; suppress false bank-acquisition upgrade notices.

  • Verify move pickups and source/destination acknowledgements; preserve occupied cursors, reject locked stacks, and report failures honestly.

  • Serialize junk sales with live protection rechecks, acknowledgement timeout, immediate cancellation and a per-visit buyback budget.

  • Require a fresh Equip click after combat; verify pickup/current recommendation and preserve native bind confirmation.

  • Harden saved-data validation; isolate and bound count caches; reduce repeated supply/appearance queries without caching disposal decisions.

  • Fix Alt-click marking order, menu input catcher, column overflow, settings profile references, long settings pages and minimap profile refresh.

  • Remain standalone with optional helper integrations. Add regression checks and replace outdated audit claims with current evidence and client-test limits.

1.4.0-beta3 — 2026-10-21

  • Protect uncollected and unknown appearances from Rummage automatic/bulk junk sales and Space Rescue, overriding all junk classifications.

  • Requery collection knowledge for destructive actions instead of trusting display caches; recheck queued sales immediately before item use.

  • Add Uncollected Appearances category for confirmed missing looks, keeping Unknown distinct and protected.

  • Explain protection in item tooltips and warn that other sellers do not inherit it. Keep long sidebar labels on one line.

  • Add regression coverage for manual junk overrides, missing APIs, stale display status, mid-sale collection changes and normal collected/nonvisual junk behavior.

1.4.0-beta2 — 2026-10-21

  • Supply targets: up to 64 tracked item IDs per character, including absent items; live carry counts, cached bank/mail stock, shortages and uncovered quantities. Dedicated window, footer/settings access, supply column and search.

  • All bank transfers now show an immutable preview. Preserve favorites, quest items and carried supply targets; simulate partial stacks and specialty bags; revalidate inventory and protection state on confirmation and acknowledge each move before continuing.

  • Next Action category/column and action searches identify unlearned usable recipes, loot containers, quest starters and readable items using only native metadata and localized tooltip text.

  • Hover visible equipment to see the current character wearing it in a private DressUpModel popup. Delayed/cancellable hover, cloak rear view, pooled model, native capability checks and an off switch.

  • Native Appearance column, collected/missing/unknown icon badges, model labels, tooltips and search. Check shared appearance sources, preserve full links/variants and never treat absent collection data as uncollected.

  • Feature-aware diagnostics distinguish known active overlap from possible overlap. Read Scrap's actual automation settings; allow optional capability providers; yield to an active competing auto-seller/repairer or visible tooltip model. Never disable helper addons.

  • Revalidate queued junk-sale slots and protections before use; stop and warn when inventory changes unexpectedly. Retain full-replacement conflict warnings and rescan on late addon loads.

  • Added Lua 5.1 behavioral, frame-construction and saved-database migration checks. WoW Forever rendering/secure-action checks remain manual.

1.4.0-beta1 — 2026-10-21

  • Standalone green upgrade arrows, Upgrade column, Upgrades category and #upgrade search use the built-in evaluator when Pawn is absent.

  • Tooltips explain the comparison and replacement item; item-level fallback is explicitly an estimate.

  • Space Rescue offers the lowest total vendor-value eligible stack after an inventory-full error. One player confirmation deletes one stack; /rum cleanup requests a review manually.

  • Make Room category and #discardable search share the deletion eligibility policy.

  • Recheck live stack identity, value, count, locks, quest flags and favorites on confirmation. Never delete during combat or with an occupied cursor.

  • Use Blizzard's arrow asset; standalone badges no longer reference Pawn's files.

  • Conflict detection uses known full replacements, not broad name prefixes that can match helper addons.

  • Refresh upgrade results after equipment, level and skill changes; defer when equipped item data is unavailable.

Changelog

1.3.0 — 2026-10-20

  • New: Profiles — save the whole setup under a name (General settings) and re-apply it anywhere; optionally per-character, re-applied automatically at login.

  • New: Settings export / import — one text string carries settings, column layout, custom categories and auto-junk rules (About tab, or /rum export / /rum import).

  • New: Auto-junk rules — up to 8 search queries; anything matching counts as junk for display, totals and selling. Favorites are never junk by rule, and manual marks always win (Items & Junk settings).

  • New: Cross-character search — the "All" button beside the tabs searches every character's cached bags and bank while you type; an Owner column (Columns tab) shows whose item it is. Results are view-only in this mode, so item actions can never touch another character's cached coordinates.

  • New: Search history — the last 10 searches are kept under the arrow button at the right end of the search box.

  • New: Sort presets — save named combinations of sort, grouping and view settings from the Preset button in the header.

  • New: Footer view totals — the footer now shows the vendor value of everything currently listed, with the junk portion broken out.

  • New: Addon compartment entry — Rummage now appears in the addon compartment (left-click bags, right-click settings).

  • Saved data upgraded to v3 (profiles, search history, rules and presets added; existing data is untouched).

  • Under the hood: the window chrome, minimap tooltip, settings tabs and slash usage now read from a single string table, so translations can be supplied as a RummageLocales global.

1.2.1 — 2026-10-20

Compatibility pass for Forever Beta build 1.60.1.70450. Behavior is unchanged.

  • Verified against build 1.60.1.70450 (interface remains 16001). All container, item and bank access already goes through the Compat.lua shim layer, and nothing in the 70425 or 70450 builds changes those APIs — no code changes were needed for the new build.

  • /fdebug report now prints the client version and build first, to make issue reports useful.

1.2.0 — 2026-10-15

  • New: Upgrade popup — when you loot or receive gear that beats what you're wearing, a small movable popup offers one-click Equip

    • Uses Pawn when installed; otherwise compares item level, respecting armor type, dual-wield and two-handers

    • Skips gear you can't use (class, level, proficiency)

    • Picks the right slot (weaker ring/trinket, empty slots first)

    • Clicking in combat queues the swap for when combat ends

    • Queues multiple upgrades; auto-hides after a configurable time (pauses while hovered); right-click X to never suggest an item again

    • /rum upgrade previews the popup so you can move it

  • New: Remember last selected category option (on by default), persists across sessions; replaces "Reset category when opened" (setting migrated automatically)

1.1.0 — 2026-10-15

Performance & hardening pass (see AUDIT.md).

  • Fixed: options window leaked every widget on each theme change / reset

  • Fixed: Scrap junk checks for alts and the cached bank used your live bag slots

  • Fixed: corrupted or legacy SavedVariables could throw; full sanitizer with type checks and clamping

  • Async item data: explicit C_Item.RequestLoadItemDataByID, refresh only when requested items arrive

  • Garbage per refresh cut from 212 KB to 6 KB (entry/display pooling, scratch tables, memoization)

  • No re-anchoring on refresh unless geometry changed; item buttons diffed instead of hidden/shown

  • Lock/cooldown updates coalesced per frame; resize and option-slider updates coalesced

  • Startup events unregister after use

  • Remaining bare globals shimmed through C_Container / C_AddOns

  • New: /fdebug (or /rum debug) diagnostics overlay — memory, frame time, event rates, timings
