RPWatcher

RPWatcher is a lightweight World of Warcraft Retail addon designed for roleplayers who want to know when nearby friendly players have them targeted.

The addon watches friendly player nameplates that are currently available through the World of Warcraft API. A player is added to the RPWatcher window once they have targeted your character at least once.

Status Tracking

RPWatcher distinguishes between three clear states:

• Green — Currently targeting you: The player is visible and currently has your character targeted.
• Grey — Previously targeted you: The player is still visible but has selected another target.
• Unknown — No longer visible: The player was previously detected, but their nameplate is no longer available. Their current target can therefore no longer be verified.

Unknown entries are automatically removed after a configurable amount of time.

Total RP 3 Integration

Total RP 3 support is optional.

When Total RP 3 is installed and active, RPWatcher can:

• display the character's RP name;
• update the displayed RP name when profile data becomes available;
• open the corresponding Total RP 3 profile directly from the watcher list.

Without Total RP 3, RPWatcher continues to work normally and displays the character's standard World of Warcraft name.

Privacy

RPWatcher includes no telemetry, advertising, analytics or external network communication.

The addon does not permanently store:

• watcher history;
• other players' GUIDs;
• RP names;
• profile texts;
• performance reports.

SavedVariables contain only the user's own window and addon settings.

Technical Limitations

RPWatcher detects whether another player has your character selected as their target. It does not detect camera direction, character facing direction or whether somebody is visually looking at your character.

Only friendly players whose visible nameplates are available through the World of Warcraft API can be checked.

Players who have never targeted you are not displayed in the watcher window.

• /rpw help — Show available commands.

Installation

Install RPWatcher through the CurseForge app or extract the downloaded archive into:

World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns

The resulting structure must contain:

Interface/AddOns/RPWatcher/RPWatcher.toc

Please report bugs through the GitHub issue tracker. Include the RPWatcher version, World of Warcraft version, Total RP 3 version if applicable, reproduction steps and any relevant BugSack output.

Do not include private character profiles, account information or other players' personal data in reports.
