RPEngine (RPE) is the next generation of roleplay event system addons - a comprehensive suite of tools to bring a new and immersive feel to your DM events. Building upon the previous version, RPToolkit, and inspired by various other RP addons, RPEngine has been designed from the ground up to be more robust and flexible than any other event system out there.

Define your character's strengths and weaknesses through the character profile system. Automatically calculate your health and resource pools, the effects of your armour and weapons, choose the feats (passives) which define your character, and select the spells that they use in combat. RPEngine includes a fully-integrated language system, allowing you to speak, intepret and learn languages. Temporary buffs and debuffs to your character are also handled in the system, as well as advantage and disadvantage on rolls. Like most things in RPEngine, most of these are entirely optional!

No more pen-and-paper. No more calculator app. No more spreadsheets. RPEngine handles it all for you. Bring your event to life with NPC profiles, utilising in-game model files to display your party's NPC allies and enemies the way you want it. At the click of a button, your party can roll to attack and defend, with damage and healing automatically handled under the hood. Assign multiple units to a single raid marker for epic battles, and take control of the number of players taking their turns. Whatever system you use, RPEngine can be tailored to take all of the tedious parts of DMing out of your hands and give you the space you need to focus on delivering great narratives.

Harvest materials from ores, plants and even dead NPCs in the world. Buy reagents from vendors, and learn crafting recipes from recipe trainers. The RPE crafting system is as classical as it gets, derived from classic WoW's system, with an added bonus. Some recipes can have optional reagents, allowing you to customise your character's equipment beyond just enchants and gems.

What's more, every item - crafting reagent, equipment and otherwise - has a calculated cost. Items can not only be bought and sold at vendors, but the prices fluctuate on a day-by-day basis, and in accordance with the remoteness of the vendor from major cities. Remember to stock up before you go campaigning across the world!

RPEngine contains a lightweight Looking for RP system to help you find roleplay in an increasingly wider world! Select several tags to describe who your character is and what you are looking for, optional share your in-game location, as well as other settings, then let the server know that you're ready to RP!

Everything about RPEngine is customisable - a key difference between it and its predecessor, RPToolkit. Recognising the rushed and hard-coded nature of the previous project, RPEngine was built from the ground up with the understanding that different guilds have different systems that they are comfortable and familiar with. RPE features a massively expanded data manager, allowing you to create items, spells, auras, NPCs, interactions, recipes, achievements and stats to share with your event attendees.

Not only that, but RPEngine features the 'ruleset' system, allowing you to modify everything from the number of action bar slots your players have, to the way in which they roll to defend against an attack, to whether or not the spells they use have ranks like in classic WoW, and even the look-and-feel of the addon itself! By modifying the ruleset, you can create an event system that is truly tailored to your guild.

RPEngine is an ever-expanding and ever-ambitious project. Having already broken the barrier into semi-automated events, RPE will continue to grow in 2026 and bring even more advanced features to the RP scene - from off-screen guild headquarters to automated NPCs and much, much more. RPE is especially resilient against future changes, being developed fully without dependencies in its codebase.
