What's new

4.0.0

Breaking change: the combat text module has been removed.

WoW Forever is Roguelike's main target, and Forever uses the same addon rules as retail Midnight. Under those rules the combat log is closed to addons, so an addon can no longer tell who dealt a hit, with which spell, or whether it was a crit. The only damage signal left reports that your target took damage, without saying from whom, and during combat its numbers are hidden from addons. Built on that, our combat text would show other players' and pets' damage as yours, without spell icons and without reliable crits. The game's own damage numbers show your damage correctly, so Roguelike now leaves them to the game.

  • Removed: the combat text (damage numbers, Crit! tag, the 4 crit icons, crit colour, screen shake, flow styles, nameplate anchoring, fonts) and the Combat Text options tab
  • If an earlier version hid the game's own damage numbers, they are switched back on as they were before Roguelike touched them
  • Old combat text settings are cleared from your saved variables; everything else (bars, combo points, hunt effect, positions, colours, sounds) is kept The combat text could come back in a future version if Blizzard opens the combat log to addons again, or adds an API that reports your own hits and crits. The work is kept so it can return quickly.

3.3.1

  • Fixed: on WoW Forever the health and energy bars now drain and refill, and the particles run, even when the game hides the numbers
  • Fixed: the health bar stayed red on WoW Forever; it is green again and only turns red below your low-health setting

3.3.0

  • 4 new crit icons: random for each crit (default) or pick one type
  • The crit icon mirrors to point outward and sits before "Crit!" on the left
  • Crit damage colour option: orange by default, with Red, Gold and Violet quick picks
  • Option to outline the damage numbers (on by default)
  • New crit exit: the tag and icons vanish, then the number zooms out as it fades

3.2.0 - first public release

  • Framed health and energy bars with animated fills and particles
  • Beast-eye combo points with sounds; all eyes flare at max points
  • Hunt effect at max combo points or while Remorseless is up
  • Combat text with crits, spell icons and nameplate or screen anchoring
  • Four layout presets, tabbed options, minimap button, /roguelike
