Description

Roger - Wipe Entertainment is a small container for in-game minigames, for the downtime between pulls. It ships with two: GemCrush, a match-3 with a raid campaign, and Scourge Defense, a tower defense.

Type /roger to open the hub and pick a game.

GemCrush

A match-3 game. Swap two adjacent gems to line up three or more; matched gems clear, everything above falls, fresh gems drop in, and the whole thing chains into cascades.

  • Four in a row makes a line gem that clears a whole row or column.
  • Five in a row makes a prismatic bomb that clears every gem of one colour.
  • An L or a T makes a wrapped gem that blows a 3x3 hole.

Specials caught in another blast go off too, so one good move can strip half the board.

Freeplay

Forty handcrafted levels with a tuned curve: reach a score, collect a colour, chain a cascade, or break the ice. Then an endless mode where the board grows and the moves tighten until a wave finally beats you.

Campaign

Fight through 113 raid bosses across 16 raids, Molten Core all the way to Sunwell Plateau. Each boss is a level: the goal bar becomes the boss's health bar, the boss shows up as a 3D model, and every fight has abilities that change how you play, from enrages and shields to board freezes, summoned adds and gem scatters. A briefing before each fight tells you exactly what the boss will do.

Leaderboard

Compare campaign, endless, freeplay and record scores with your guild and your group. It travels over addon messages, so it reaches guildmates and party or raid members who also run Roger. Sharing is opt-in in both directions and off until you turn it on, and scores are self-reported and shown as such.

Scourge Defense

A tower defense where the towers are WoW classes and their attacks are that class's signature spell. Mage slows with Frostbolt, Hunter covers more path than anything else with Steady Shot, Paladin burns everything standing in Consecration, Shaman throws Chain Lightning that jumps between enemies, and Warlock applies Corruption, which ignores armour.

Talent trees

The first time you upgrade a tower you choose one of two specialisations, named for the real TBC trees and built from their signature talents. The choice is permanent - selling the tower is the only way back - so it gets a card showing both trees side by side before you commit.

  • Mage - Frost for deeper, longer slows, or Fire for splash and a lingering burn.
  • Hunter - Marksmanship for enormous range and crushing critical strikes, or Beast Mastery for the fastest, hardest hits in the game up close.
  • Warlock - Affliction for stronger curses, or Destruction, which stops cursing and starts throwing bolts.
  • Paladin - Retribution for a far harder-hitting aura, or Holy, which deals no damage at all and raises every tower around it instead.
  • Shaman - Elemental for more chain jumps, or Enhancement, a very short and very fast single-target hit.

A specialised tower takes its tree's icon and colour on the map, so a Fire Mage and a Frost Mage are told apart at a glance. Every one of the ten trees was played through all 28 maps on all three difficulties before release.

The Scourge

They split as they die, so killing an Abomination gives you two Crypt Fiends, which give you Ghouls, which give you Skeletons - one bad wave unpacks into three. Twenty waves per map, with a Frost Wyrm every tenth.

Maps and medals

28 maps, tiered Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, each with its own layout, build spots and scenery. The map is a difficulty axis in its own right: beginner maps are long and open, advanced ones short and cramped, and a shorter road is genuinely harder because your towers get less time to fire at the same wave.

Easy, Normal and Hard change lives, gold and how tough the Scourge are. Clearing a map awards a medal for the difficulty you beat it on - Bronze, Silver or Gold - and a higher one grants the ones below it, so a map taken on Hard gives you all three. Endless mode runs past wave twenty for as long as you can hold.

Accessibility

This is a colour-matching game, so it takes that seriously: an optional distinct shape on every gem colour, four colourblind-friendly palettes that stay readable even in greyscale, reduce-motion, adjustable tile size, and per-event sound toggles.

Commands

  • /roger opens the hub.
  • /gc jumps straight into GemCrush.
  • /gc play 3 starts a level, /gc endless starts an endless run, /gc campaign opens the campaign.
  • /gc towers opens Scourge Defense.
  • /gc hint shows a legal move, /gc stats prints your lifetime stats.

Good to know

  • Built and tested for Burning Crusade Classic (2.5.x).
  • No dependencies. No external libraries, and it never touches your other addons.
  • Pauses itself the moment you enter combat, so it never eats a click during a pull. Scourge Defense also has a pause button of its own, kept separate from the automatic one.
  • Its window closes with Escape and remembers where you left it.

Bug reports and suggestions are welcome in the comments. s.
