What's new

1.60.1.2

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • Added new rare NPCs introduced in the latest builds.
    • Added the "Dented Chest" container to the database.
    • Updated loot tables.
    • Now books aren't hidden by default.
  • New: Respawn telemetry re-enabled. This system was disabled in Forever Beta because Blizzard made modifications that directly affected how RareScanner calculates these timers. However, there is still a way to calculate them (though much more limited than in Retail).
    • To help out, you can use the command /rs telemetry export to obtain a string with all the samples obtained in your database, which you can then paste at https://rarescanner-telemetry.pages.dev/ to help calculate all respawn timers for every rare NPC in WoW Forever.
    • All the calculated timers will be refined and shipped with future updates of the addon.
  • World map tooltips: Items that upgrade your item level (ilvl) now display a green arrow.
    • Items are now also ordered by ilvl.
  • Updated Russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).

1.60.1.1

  • Added a nil check to avoid a LUA error when reading item's tooltips (I believe caused by reading items that haven't been found in the game yet).

1.60.1

  • Updated database (work in progress)
  • Updated Russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).
  • Updated Simplified chinese localizations (thanks to LvWind).

1.60.1.b15

  • Updated database (work in progress)
  • Added minor code improvements before the beta server goes down.
  • Updated Russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).
  • Updated Simplified chinese localizations (thanks to LvWind).

1.60.1.b14

  • Updated database (work in progress)
  • Explorer improvements:
    • Entity list now displays NPC levels (color-coded by difficulty), sorted by level and then by containers.
    • Containers now display a different image.
    • Added new icons to identify completed and filtered entities.
    • Added a new Type filter (Rare NPCs / Containers).
    • Added a new "Ignore missing collectibles" filter inside Collections. It disables all other collection filters and displays every entity. Moved "Show entities without missing collectibles" to this section as well.
    • Added a collapsible loot panel for the selected entity to browse its complete item list, check drop chances, item quality, ilvl upgrades, and more.
    • Allows filtering individual items directly from this UI.
  • Tooltip improvements:
    • Now displays NPC level.
    • Loot is now sorted by quality, then drop chance, and finally by name (matching the Explorer order).
    • Item tooltips now display the drop chance right after the item data.
    • New loot filters implemented.
  • Loot filter improvements:
    • Integrated individual item filters into the Explorer.
    • Minor UI enhancements to the individual item filter panel.
    • Updated category filters to match existing categories in WoW Forever.
    • Removed obsolete filters that do not apply to WoW Forever.
    • Added new filter by Equipable.
    • Added new filter by Usable.
    • Added new filter by Item Drop Chance.

1.60.1.b13

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • Added solid chests.
  • Added dungeon maps to the explorer.
    • The addon now includes dungeon and entrance maps, allowing you to see where to find every single rare that doesn't spawn in the open world.
  • Fixed an issue where minimap icons remained visible when all world map icons were disabled.
  • Fixed a Lua error when hovering over an overlay icon associated with a group icon.
  • Fixed group icon animation: Resolved an issue where the animation didn't trigger when hovering over layout icons.
  • External tables are no longer used to detect map parenthood.
  • Maps that are only available during a mission are no longer displayed in the world map menu.
  • Filtering a map from the world map now filters all child maps recursively (cascade).
  • Sublevels of zones are now shown in the explorer to properly group cave maps, etc., preventing them from becoming orphaned.
  • Maps that are only available during a mission are no longer shown in the explorer either.
  • Checking the "Lock player map" option now takes into account the parent maps of the player's current location.
  • Option panel filters now display all entities contained within the selected map and its sub-maps.
  • Now the addon doesn't use the RaidWarningFrame and instead creates a new one (this will hopefully solve a taint issue that exists in retail and probably in wow forever).
  • Updated Russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).
  • Updated Simplified chinese localizations (thanks to LvWind).

1.60.1.b12

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • Added new coordinates for missing rare NPCs.
    • Updated loot tables.
  • Now repeatable containers show up with a light green colour to tell them apart from the rest.
  • Fixed an error when using the option to don't show alert for containers, where the icons weren't turned pink in the minimap.
  • Fixed a Lua error that could happen when a recently seen repeatable treasure expired on the minimap after it was spotted in a subzone that RareScanner doesn't have in its database.
  • Fixed an error where the icons shown in the world map were disappearing when opening the flight map.
  • Fixed an issue where the map displayed after an initial scan (triggered by a new version) did not match the rare list shown. (Manual rescans were not affected).
  • When the alert button for treasures is disabled, the treasures you find now show up on the minimap right away, not after a zone change.
  • New feature (EXPERIMENTAL): Respawn telemetry. This feature was designed for Retail with WoW Forever in mind. However, last week Blizzard started hiding some of the information required to calculate respawn timers in WoW Forever, so the addon will currently only display timers directly from the database (which is empty for now).
  • Added separators to the commands printed with /rs to make them easier to read.
  • Removed features that don't exist in WoW Forever: Drakewatchers, dragon glyps, garrison treasure, etc.
  • Now the addon uses LibBabble-SubZone instead of LibBabble-Zone that includes names for every new dungeon (this increase the size of the addon by 1MB).
  • Updated Russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).

1.60.1.b11

  • Updated database (work in progress):
  • Now the tracker by Soft Target interaction is disabled by default.
  • Fixed some issues with the class/race skill tracker where it couldn't detect a target if it contained UTF-8 characters.
  • Improved how the class/race skill tracker works when several quests are enabled and the NPCs spawn in the same area.

1.60.1.b10

  • Fixed an issue with the class/race skills tracker where it could fail to detect entities when a quest area was active on the minimap covering the NPCs.

1.60.1.b9

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • Added support for the Faction Librarian books/scrolls.
  • Added a new tracking system: Class/race skills
    • In WoW Forever, it's possible to track the blips shown on the minimap, so RareScanner now uses them to track rare/custom NPCs (any type of NPC hunters can track, humanoids for druids, and treasures for dwarves).
    • NOTE: I have only tested hunters so far, as they learn the skill at level 1. If druids or dwarves find any bugs, please report them so I can fix them while I level up characters for each class.
  • Added a new tracking system: Soft target. Now the addon can track NPCs/containers/treasures around you. It's more limited than nameplates, but until now, there was no other way to track containers around you in classic versions.
    • NOTE: This tracker enables an in-game option that adds an icon above interactive NPCs and objects. If you don't want to see them, disable this tracker under RareScanner -> General tab.
  • Added a new tool that translators will love. Until now, the addon included static names for everything: achievements, NPCs, items, spells, etc. Now it uses dynamic codes that automatically translate and colorize text in tooltips, significantly reducing translation work.
  • Fixed a taint issue with RareScanner's icons when Gamepad UI is enabled.
    • NOTE: The game itself is also tainting menus, so the addon may still cause issues with Gamepad UI if you interact with the World Map menu. This bug has been reported to Blizzard, and hopefully they will fix it in a future build.

1.60.1.b8

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • I started to add containers to the database. The addon won't be able to alert you to them but you can see where they appear and their content.
  • Now you can disable a route when moving to another map (before this change the option to disable it was gone if you weren't in the same map as the route).
  • Added a load bar to show that the addon is calculating the best route.
  • Added small code improvements to the explorer.
  • Updated third party libraries:
    • HereBeDragons
    • WowAce
  • Updated russian localizations (thanks to Hollicsh).
  • Updated simplified chinese localizations (thanks to LvWind).

1.60.1.b7

  • Updated database (work in progress):
    • Fixed an issue that caused an error when scanning for missing collectibles with the explorer. Some items included in the database no longer exist in the current game build.
    • Updated overlay coordinates and loot tables.
  • New feature: Routes:
    • This feature was intended for Retail, but as it also works here, I have ported it to this version.
    • Now you can add a route to your current map to see the fastest route between every active rare on the map.
    • To start the route: Use the RareScanner world map menu (under Rare icons) or the command /rs route.
    • To cancel the route: Use the RareScanner world map menu (under Rare icons) or the command /rs croute.
    • You can find more settings to customize how it looks under RareScanner options -> Map options -> Route
  • Removed from the explorer support for decor and drawewatcher manuscripts.
  • Re-enabled scanning for pets, mounts and toys (it was disabled in previous beta patches).
  • Updated Krowi_WorldMapButtons adding compatibility with WoW Forever. Now the button is shown on the left side, fixing an issue where the in-game world map button appeared out of place.

1.60.1.b6

  • Updated database (work in progress).
  • Fixed an error where the purple icons remained on the minimap even after the internal recently seen timer expired.
  • Improved the respawn system: it will now tag every entity as respawned as soon as the addon reloads (previously it could take up to 5 minutes).
    • Now it also uses asynchronous routines that will prevent stuttering when loading the addon.

1.60.1.b5

  • Updated database (work in progress).
    • The database used until now had coordinates and overlay coordinates from retail, now it uses coordinates from classic.
    • Updated the entire database of loot for every single rare NPC.
    • Added new rare NPCs.
  • Performance improvements:
    • Added many general code improvements to avoid memory consumption, CPU use, innecesary GC overload, etc. (work in progress)
    • Added fixes to avoid stuttering when showing the loot bar and also to avoid showing items that belong to another rare NPC if 2 or more NPCs are found in a short period of time.
    • Added many optimizations regarding to scanning missing collectibles (it affects mostly to retail but also a little bit to forever).
  • Now overlay icons are always shown under the skull icons, as before they could appear on top.

1.60.1.b4

  • Updated database (work in progress).
    • Added missing rare NPCs.
    • Updated loot tables.
  • Performance improvements:
    • Added code optimizations to avoid unnecessary server calls and reduce heavy mathematical operations.
    • Now the explorer uses subroutines to avoid stuttering while loading the interface.

1.60.1.b3

  • Updated database (work in progress).
    • Added missing rare NPCs.
  • The macro is now enabled by default.
  • Macro system improvements:
    • Switched from a ticker to internal events, reducing CPU usage when idle.
    • Distances are now calculated in yards rather than relative map units, ensuring consistent detection across maps of all sizes.
  • Internal subroutine and performance improvements:
    • Tasks are now dynamically scaled based on current FPS, preventing performance drops and client stuttering.
    • Scans in the explorer are now significantly faster and won't freeze the client.

1.60.1.b2

  • Added a new skin for the Explorer that is more like WoW Forever.
  • Removed test logs printing in the chat.

1.60.1.b1

  • Added initial support for Classic Forever.
  • This version is completely synchronized with retail, so it includes all the latest updates.
  • Right now, it relies on the Classic database, so it may list rare NPCs that don't exist, show incorrect positions, or lack new rare NPCs. I will keep working on it as the beta progresses and even after the game is released.
  • I am releasing this as a beta because it currently includes features from retail that might not exist in Classic. I will remove or adapt them as soon as I verify what stays or changes.
