Description
Ranked Duels
Scout your opponent, then duel them for a rating that actually means something.
Ranked Duels adds a persistent rating to open-world 1v1 dueling. You get a full scouting report on anyone before you commit, a title ladder from Aspirant to Elite, and a way to know upfront whether a given duel is going to be Ranked or just a casual Skirmish.
It's entirely client-side - no server, no website, no login. Everything is stored in your own SavedVariables. The only network traffic is a short addon-message whisper to the person you're about to duel, so both copies of the addon can confirm each other's current rating.
FEATURES
Scouting Report
Right-click a player to pull up a full report on them: a live, rotatable 3D model like the Inspect window, their gear with item level and enchants listed next to each slot, spec/class/race/level, honor level, and their rated PvP bracket records (Solo Shuffle, 2v2, 3v3) with rank badges. It also shows your personal head-to-head record against that player.
/rd scout self (or left-clicking the minimap button) opens the same report for yourself.
Rating System
Click "Start Ranked Duel" and your addon quietly tags the request before it goes out. If the other player is also running the addon, the two clients handshake, verify each other's current rating and record, and the duel gets scored as Ranked.
Elo-based: beating someone rated higher than you is worth more, losing to them costs less, and vice versa.
Titles unlock as your rating climbs (and the display updates immediately if you drop back below a threshold):
Aspirant - 0
Combatant - 1000
Challenger - 1400
Rival - 1800
Duelist - 2100
Elite - 2400
Crossing a title threshold for the first time locks in an achievement permanently, even if your rating later drops. Your first 10 ranked duels use a bigger K-factor (like arena placements) so your rating settles near your real skill level faster. Beating or losing to the same person repeatedly also has diminishing returns - each consecutive one-sided result against them is worth half as much as the last (100%, 50%, 25%...), though trading wins back and forth resets that. It also resets after 5 hours without a duel against them. A Tier Progress tab shows how far you are from your next title, roughly translated into a number of wins.
Skirmish Fallback
If you send a Ranked Duel request and don't get a response (if they dont have the addon, you dont have to do anything) within a few seconds, it just becomes a normal duel - still tracked, but on a separate Skirmish rating that doesn't touch your real one. Any plain /duel gets logged here too.
PvP Queue Panel
Shows your current bracket ratings right inside the scouting report, with a button to jump straight into queue for whichever bracket you pick, without leaving to open Blizzard's PvP panel.
Duel History
Your last 200 duels - opponent, result, Ranked or Skirmish, rating change, head-to-head record - are all on the Overview tab. /rd ranked switches whether your displayed record counts everything or Ranked duels only.
Custom Duel Popup
Replaces the default duel request window with one that shows the challenger's rating and record before you decide, in either a dark or light style matching the rest of the addon.
Minimap Button & Settings
Left-click for your own report, right-click for settings, drag to move it. Full options panel lives under Options -> AddOns -> Ranked Duels, covering theme, scouting report scale, enchant display, and duel popup sound.
SLASH COMMANDS

HOW RANKED GETS DECIDED
1) You hit Start Ranked Duel or hit Ranked Duel in the same list as the normal Duel would be- your addon flags the request and sends it with the duel invite.
2) If your target also runs Ranked Duels, their client acknowledges it within a few seconds and both sides exchange rating/record data.
3) If that handshake goes through, the duel is marked Ranked and your rating updates once it ends.
4) If there's no response in time, the duel still happens normally, just logged as a Skirmish instead.
Ratings are self-reported by each client - there's no server checking anyone's numbers, so treat it as a fun local leaderboard rather than a tamper-proof ranking system.
REQUIREMENTS
No dependencies, no Ace3, nothing else to install
DATA & PRIVACY
Everything stays in your own SavedVariables. The only thing ever sent over the network is a short whisper containing your win/loss counts and current rating, sent to a player only when you scout or duel them.
BUILT WITH AI ASSISTANCE
This addon was built with a lot of help from AI tools - Claude, ChatGPT, and some local models - for code, debugging, and UI work. Wanted to be upfront about that.
