RaidScout

Check a player's GearScore, gear and talents before you invite them.

Existing GearScore addons rely on NotifyInspect — that only works within about 50 yards and line of sight. But when someone whispers you for a spot, they are standing in Shattrath, not next to you.

RaidScout gets the data from outside the game instead. It works at any distance, and the player does not need to be online.

How it works

WoW addons cannot read files or make network requests. RaidScout therefore uses short codes you copy between the game and the companion website:

Collect names in game — Alt+Click in chat, import from the LFG tool, or scan your raid
Click Scan and paste the code on raidscout.net
Copy the result back into the addon

The website queries the official Blizzard API and calculates GearScore itself. No account needed, nothing to install beyond the addon.

Main features

GearScore and item level for anyone on your realm Scan a single applicant, your whole group, or an entire guild. Results are sorted so the highest score is on top.

Full gear inspection See every equipped item on a character doll with icons — including missing enchants, which is often what you actually want to know before an invite.

Talent trees The real tree layout with icons and point distribution, not a flat list.

Role and spec detection Roles come from the actual talent build, not a guess based on class.

Guild scan Scan a full guild by name with a minimum level filter. No member limit — tested with 152 members.

Saved lists Store named rosters and reload them later.

Chat report Post the results to raid, guild or party chat, with a column for missing enchants. Lines are spaced out so you do not get disconnected for spam.

Quality of life Minimap button, movable on-screen icon, right-click menu on any name for whisper, invite or inspect.

Getting started

Type /scout to open the window. /rs is deliberately not used — RaidLead already claims it.

Notes

Data comes from Blizzard's public character API and reflects their state, which can lag slightly behind the game.

Players can opt out. Anyone who has hidden their character from the armory will not be found — the scan simply lists them as not found and moves on. For those players, only the classic inspect within range works. Characters below level 10 and ones that have never logged in are not in the API either.

Currently built and tested for TBC Classic Anniversary. Support for other versions is planned.
