QuickAssist

Following a tank or raid leader and tired of editing your /assist macro every time they change? QuickAssist remembers who you assist. Target the player you want to follow, press one key, and from then on a second key targets whatever they're targeting.

Works on WoW retail and WoW Forever.

How it works

• Set Player to Assist: target a friendly player and press this key. A message confirms who you're now assisting.
• Assist Learned Player: press this key to target that player's target. Until you've chosen someone, it assists your current target, so you can bind it to your normal assist key.
• Press the set key with nothing targeted to clear your choice.

Features

• Works on WoW retail and WoW Forever.
• On WoW Forever it uses primary and secondary names, so two players who share a primary name can be told apart.
• Changes made during combat are queued and applied when combat ends.
• You can't set yourself as the player to assist.
• Clear, outlined on-screen messages that fade quickly.
• Nothing to configure. Type /quickassist (or /qa, if no other addon uses it) to open the Key Bindings panel.
• Both keys live in their own QuickAssist section of the Key Bindings panel (Esc > Options > Key Bindings). Until both are set, you get a reminder at login.

Manual Install

1. Download the latest zip from the releases page.
2. Unzip it into your Interface/AddOns folder (inside _retail_ for WoW retail, or your WoW Forever install), so you end up with AddOns/QuickAssist/QuickAssist.toc.
3. If the game is already running, type /reload. A restart isn't needed.
4. Open the Key Bindings panel and assign your keys in the QuickAssist section.

Compatibility

Tested on WoW retail (interface 120000) and WoW Forever (interface 16001). It has not been tested on other clients.

QuickAssist is a modified version of SimpleAssist 4.01 by Schnoggo, released under the same Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 license (CC BY-NC 3.0). It is free to use and share with credit to the original author, but not for commercial use.
