Description
QuestLevelSort
Blizzard's tracker does not always display tracked quests in a useful level order. QuestLevelSort keeps the familiar Blizzard tracker while rearranging the existing quest entries by level.
QuestLevelSort is a lightweight addon that sorts tracked quests by quest level directly in Blizzard's default Objective Tracker, without replacing the original UI -- for players who, like me, want to preserve the classic WoW feel as much as possible.
It also marks non-Vanilla quests and provides optional font size adjustments for quest titles and objectives while keeping Blizzard's Objective Tracker intact.
Features
- Sorts tracked quests by quest level
- Choose between lowest → highest and highest → lowest sorting
- Remembers your preferred sorting direction between sessions
- Uses Blizzard's default Objective Tracker — no custom quest tracker UI
- Marks quests not found in the original Vanilla quest database with a small ∞ icon
- Allows independent font size adjustments for quest titles and quest objectives
- Font size adjustments are relative to Blizzard's configured Objective Tracker text size
- Designed and currently tested for WoW Forever
Settings
QuestLevelSort can be configured under:
Options → AddOns → QuestLevelSort
You can also open the settings directly with:
/qls
The following options are available:
- Sort direction: Choose between lowest → highest and highest → lowest quest-level sorting
- Quest title font size: Adjust the size of quest titles
- Quest objective font size: Adjust the size of quest objective text
Font size adjustments are relative to Blizzard's configured Objective Tracker text size. A value of 0 keeps Blizzard's configured size unchanged.
Your settings are saved automatically between sessions.
Forever Quest Marker
QuestLevelSort uses a small ∞ symbol to identify quests that are not part of the original Vanilla quest database.
The Vanilla quest ID reference is based on Questie's Classic quest database.
The Vanilla quest ID ranges used by QuestLevelSort were generated directly from Questie's Classic quest database using a custom Python script. Consecutive quest IDs are combined into ranges to provide a compact lookup table.
Important: The ∞ marker does not use an official Blizzard "Forever quest" flag. It indicates that the quest ID was not found in the Vanilla reference data and is therefore treated by QuestLevelSort as a non-Vanilla / Forever quest.
Compatibility
- QuestLevelSort is designed to work with Blizzard's default Objective Tracker.
- Compatibility with other addons that modify, replace, or independently sort the Objective Tracker is not guaranteed.
- Addon-specific compatibility adjustments are currently not planned.
- Gamepad-specific compatibility will be revisited once Blizzard's Gamepad integration is considered stable/final.
Gamepad Mode
Blizzard's native Gamepad Mode is currently marked as Alpha. QuestLevelSort does not currently provide explicit support for Gamepad Mode, and compatibility issues may occur.
Beta
QuestLevelSort is currently in beta testing for WoW Forever.
The addon has been tested with the current Forever beta client, but additional testing across different characters, quest logs and addon combinations is very welcome.
If you encounter a Lua error, taint error, incorrect quest ordering, or an incorrectly marked quest, please leave a comment with as much information as possible.
