QuestCompleteOnlySound

QuestCompleteOnlySound is a tiny World of Warcraft addon that plays a custom sound when a quest's objectives are completed.

It does only one thing automatically: when a quest changes from incomplete to complete, it plays QuestComplete_Sound.ogg.

Features

• Plays a custom OGG sound when a quest is completed
• Options panel under Options -> AddOns -> QCOS with:
  • A checkbox to enable/disable the automatic sound
  • A volume slider (0-100)
  • A "Test sound" button that plays the sound at the current volume
• Includes /qcos soundtesting to test the sound manually
• Includes /qcos help to show available commands
• No automatic chat messages
• No UI changes outside of its own options panel
• Does not modify the quest tracker
• Does not add, remove, or track quests
• Lightweight and simple

Installation (if not using curseforge)

1. Download the addon ZIP.
2. Extract it into your World of Warcraft AddOns folder.
3. Make sure the final folder is named:

QuestCompleteOnlySound

The folder should contain:

QuestCompleteOnlySound.toc
QuestCompleteOnlySound.lua
QuestCompleteOnlySound_Options.lua
QuestComplete_Sound.ogg

Settings

Open Options -> AddOns -> QCOS in-game to access the settings panel:

• Enable quest complete sound — toggles the automatic sound on quest completion. This does not affect the manual /qcos soundtesting command, which always plays.
• Volume — sets the volume (0-100) used both for the automatic sound and for manual testing.
• Test Sound — plays the sound immediately at the current volume, without needing to complete a quest.

Settings are saved per account (QCOSDB SavedVariable) and persist between sessions.

Notes

The sound plays only after the addon has seen a quest go from incomplete to complete. It should not play when accepting a quest.

Available slash commands:

/qcos soundtesting
/qcos help

/qcos soundtesting plays the sound manually (at the volume set in the options panel) so you can test that the OGG file is working. This works even if the automatic sound is disabled.

/qcos help shows the available commands in chat.

The addon is designed for Retail World of Warcraft.
